The Canucks are now guaranteed a shot at Bedard in the lottery, but finishing 8-9th worse instead of 10-11th doubles the (small) chances of winning it (6.5%-6% vs 3.5%-3.0%). Washington plays Boston and Detroit a really desperate Carolina, so a loss in Anaheim would be extremely valuable.
Canucks should do what the Caps had been doing until Ovechkin was injured, just focus on giving Petey a chance to score points and don't worry too much about the score.

this is a game where veteran leadership could help. we are in control of our own destiny. 8th is ours if we just gut it out and don't play well.
but the ducks are locked in a tight struggle for worst overall and have even more to not play for.
looking forward to more discussions of wine and brewery tours.

Washington pulling off a (regulation) win against Boston would benefit our draft position while also setting up a scenario where Boston can set the all-time NHL points record against Montreal, the current record holder

Under RT, the Canucks usually rebound with a good game/players want to redeem themselves..Demko starts.
Will be interesting to see if Zegras has a series of meltdown/hissy fits like he did the last time the Canucks were in Anaheim.
Also in that game, the Ducks made zero attempt to even compete..It was pathetic.

Predicted it before this three-game trip.....a narrow loss against the Kings; a narrow win over the Ducks; and a 'pick-em' in Arizona.
Still alive in the Bedard sweepstakes, but about the same odds as 649 ticket. But I'd settle for the Canucks at least moving up a few places in the draft lottery. But it never seems to happen.
