With 8 games left, the Canucks must catch up and pass Edmonton (Canucks 8 points behind, Edm has a game in hand), red hot St Louis (6 points behind , Canucks have a game in hand) or Minnesota (6 pts behind, same number of games left.) Canucks are without EP40, Hoglander, Lankinen is showing signs of overwork, Demko's health ia apparently ok for now but hard to count on and the team has been struggling with the flu.

It is a situation in which the likelihood of gain is higher if the team loses than if it wins, but the gain in losing is likely very small so most will probably still hope for a win.

Not happening, they flushed away their chances by dropping that extremely winnable game vs NYR.
