A suspension automatically comes with the match penalty, the commissioner can overturn it but obviously won't in this case. The only question right now is the length.

I disagree that Myers doesn't deserve an extra game. Both were crosschecks in the face, but McDavid did it during play.
A hearing is automatic with a match penalty, not a suspension. It can be anywhere from a fine to 5 games.

Consistency
  • Talked today to the team about how the last game was great but you need to follow it up
  • Need to consistently block out noise
  • Sustainable stuff; can’t be a once-in-a-while team
Pettersson
  • Both Pettersson and Tocchet’s job to make Pettersson understand what the team needs from him
  • Needs to move his feet; otherwise he gets in trouble
  • Wants him to be aggressive; when he’s not aggressive that’s when he makes the wrong mistake
  • Can handle aggressive mistakes
  • When he gets the puck, take some strides and be ready to get your shot off; so talented that he can get around someone trying to block the shot; but has to do that every day
  • Hockey is repetition
Myers
  • League hasn’t said anything but will assume he would be out for a game or two
His Future with the Team
  • All his energy has gone towards getting the team to play consistently
  • Just focusing on gameplans and line-ups
  • His best approach is to focus on hockey games
Defence Pairings
  • Not set in stone but Hronek will have to play some shifts with other partners
  • There will be situational stuff where different personnel will be out there
  • Have some injuries and Myers' upcoming suspension
  • Friedman can skate and move the puck up
Noisy Season
  • In his career dealt with noise; trade rumours and expiring contracts
  • Can’t think too far ahead; just worry about the next day
  • Need a group of guys that hold steady and preach the right things
  • Doesn’t want 2-3 guys going off on their own, prefers more guys hanging out together
  • Tells players that everyone is watching you; conduct yourself professionally and with character
Miller Line
  • Have talked to Miller a couple of times but was more about hockey
  • Suter was really good; excellent defensively
Resiliency
  • Takes the positive approach; he’s been in the league for 40 years and this is one of the most trying years he’s ever seen but to still hang in the playoff race is huge
  • There are positives; haven’t lost a lot in a row
Standings
  • Does watch the standings but understands that a lot can change in 48 hours; jumping spots
  • Is he in his office at 4pm having a coffee watching another team and hoping they lose? Yeah!
  • Isn’t scoreboard watching everyday
Hoglander
  • Has to have an identity and a role but earlier in the season felt he was caught in between
  • Is being harder on the puck; holding on to the puck more and getting shots on net
  • Wanting the puck is confidence
Garland
  • Has a chip on his shoulder; has to play with that edge
Injuries
  • Juulsen is day-to-day
  • Joshua skated today but not with the team; getting close
  • Won’t call up a forward tomorrow
  • Mentions Raty and Karlsson as guys pushing for call-ups

Please staple Friedman to Hughes for every minute of all three games.

Hughes looks unreal with anyone, why not mark, maybe it works for 5v5. Friedman can pass him the puck as well as hronek, or close enough hopefully.
