Dumb offensive zone penalty cost them. Avs score there and the momentum shifted. Rookie mistakes are costly.

2 of 4 points from Avs is fine but they fumbled this one away.

I'd send HL down for a bit. Not exactly a demotion since the tools and work ethic is there but he needs a reset to find his confidence. I thought he had an okay game here, few takeaways and flashes but i feel like he has potential to produce while 8 is out but just has to find his confidence.

I thought he looked confident enough last night, had some neat passes through the neutral zone and a couple controlled entries. The problem with him this year has been in-zone defending and it's more a "can't play him and Vrana together" problem IMO.

Almost Canada
1 goal game so it was close. If CMM and Protas bury their Grade A+ chances, it's 2 points. CMM had 2 consecutive breakaways and Protas was alone in front of the net for an eternity.1st GA was an unlucky bounce. Most nights we win this game.

JC420 in the Ovi spot.

ps reading another opinion of the game: This is why eyewitness testimony is a joke.
This. I thought they dominated the first half of the game but when they failed to get a second one past Georgiev on those great opportunities and then gave up the PPGA, the momentum shifted.

Tall order coming off a near-perfect road trip and
COL wanting revenge on getting shutdown in COL last week

We had several high danger chances, so did they
Happy we only gave up 2 (and 1 of those completely flukey taboot taboot)

getting more impressed with DuBois' hockey IQ, doing a lot of little things protecting the puck, putting pucks just out of D's reach, good vision and touch...

Regroup, and take out our wrath on NJ tmrw with a physically dominating performance

Yeah, I guess my final take is: We didn't bury our chances and they got a couple of bounces. Hockey.

And yes, PLD continues to impress.

McMichael has 12 goals on the year while Lapierre has 2 points.

I agree with the sentiment, but McMichael has earned himself some benefit of the doubt.
We’re talking one game, where one guy had glaring premium scoring chances (and we lost by a goal)…the guy who you need to step up to replace Ovechkin’s loss…..just sayin…..they’re all open for critique, not just HL the current whipping boy…

Good coaching and PLD coming here with some familiarity with a player and assistant coach, can make such a big difference. In LA, PLD came to the team cold and never feeling comfortable from the start. Also, Kings require their centers to play 2-way and PLD was an offensive center. Going back to good coaching, PLD is becoming more of a 2-way center here.
