Playing Demko seems like a really bad idea.

Why? The season is done anyway. Would you rather go into another off-season wondering what version of Demko is going to show up at training camp next year?

I'd play him every game down the stretch, maybe even in the back-to-backs. He needs to prove he can stay healthy before the Canucks can have any confidence in him for next season.

Blues are now five points clear of the Canucks. The likelihood of this team overtaking that deficit with 12 games remaining is basically 'zero'. They might even be officially done by the end of this six-game road-swing.

I'm not really that bummed out about it......because I really figured that since the calendar year changed, this team was unlikely to really get into the playoffs. Just not good enough in so many areas.

The important thing now is to finish behind Utah and Calgary and get a better draft position. They need to start cutting back on Hughes' ice-time; and if Hoglander or EP40 are nicked--no need to rush them back into the lineup.

They need to get Demko into a lot of the last 10 games': and see what they have with Raty, Karlsson, Lekkerimaki and EP25. Lots of ice time in all situations.

As for most of the fans---this season can't be flushed fast enough.

If Hughes needs surgery; I think I've heard it mentioned numerous times, they should get that started asap.

Make sure he is in as good a condition as possible to start the next season.

But I guess no real NHL club would ever do that when they have a 11,3% chance of making the playoffs and I've just been playing too many videogames.

That would really depend.

Is he just broken, or have they consistently rushed him back too soon.

It's absolutely curtains for the Vancouver Canucks. This isn't conventional wisdom but this is basic math.

I absolutely knew this year was going to be a shit show when Demko had a setback in the summer, JT Miller got injured in camp, and Joshua was sidelined with cancer. Now we finish off the season with Hughes clearly labouring and Pettersson and Demko being sidelined.

A f***ing awful season that rivals 2013-2014.

I strongly disagree.

That year was clearly the end of the run. We had no reinforcements coming.

This team has a fantastic and prime aged 6 man d unit with rookies coming on strong.

Goaltending is either decently sorted ( Lankinen) or conceivably a big advantage if Demko can get healthy again.

And I'm extremely bullish on Petey and believe we have a superstar top line center.

This is nothing like knowing the Sedins were down to about 150 elite games left and nothing behind them.

The Devils have some major injuries to their star players.

This could be a "what to do game". Only in that they are now 6 points out of WC2 with only 12 games left.
Almost an impossibility to over come.

Should any injured players be trotted out and play?

Or throw in the towel to prevent further damage? Get healed for the next fight.

If Demko can play should they throw him to the wolves?

The Canucks will play balls to the walls but "mentally" will they have an unconscious limit?

Exactly, we simply need to score more than the other team in a 60 minute interval, its not rocket science.

No word on the status of EP40 and Hoglander. Neither practiced on Sunday. If they're both out tonight, it'll be like watching a pig-wrestling match in the neutral zone. Who's going to score for the fast-fading Canucks?

Demko getting back in and watching Raty, Lekkerimaki and EP25 is about the only thing of any interest to me.

Live in NYC, went to all 3 local games last year …. Went Sat and going today, what a diff a year makes.
Last year seemed like the zenith, this the nadir

He's mostly played wing in the last several years but has played some centre. He's at centre out of necessity with Hughes out.

Hope they're not rushing Demko back into action given the lack of confidence in Silovs.
