  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

f*** this season, f*** buttman and the zebras,
f*** the media for starting up shit,

And especially f*** Aqualini for being a short sighted f*** and refuse to trade for picks/capspace when the team is clearly not adequately prepared for a playoff spot.

Hughe/Pettersson/Demko are all injured and we could’ve been in a perfect position for a quick turnaround if he could just let ONE season go instead of being fixated on a minuscule chance of making the playoffs just for it to be a round 1 exit.

I just want this team to get good man,
sorry for the rant.

Expressing an opinion to anonymous posters is nothing to be sorry for.

I agree about the drafting idea but I don't think it needs be protracted or long either.
As I have posted many times, the team will need to make "team" decisions, for the good of the franchise typ decisions.
IMO there is one player in the draft that might help the most, Misa. There must be some baggage considering he was bypassed for the U18, WJC and rarely mentioned in the media, but a goal a game at 17 is tome very significant. And he can do C or W.
See "what is in the system" for the remainder of the season and then trade down to get him.
If the team is planning ahead to next year then even next years #1 could be in play to get Misa this year.
If there is a plan, then Hughes becomes the trade asset to get Mckenna plus numerous other prospects, pick or players to fill in. The bottom six and defence is fairly good now so there would be no more losses than now and the team might still have Pettersson, hopefully to rebound.
16 months and there is not need to tank next year if the team takes control out of Hughes hands and does what is best for the franchise. Then go head hunting for top FAs or maybe even a coach.
I would not mind seeing Quennville here, it might be a novelty to have a very experienced WINNING coach here, that hasn't happened for a decade.

Fans should cheer for the TEAM not one, two or three out of 23 players. TEAM, name on the front not the name on the back is the MOST IMPORTANT. Bure is gone but the team is still here the same for Linden and the Sedins and .....

No way this flies in Vancouver either.

Ya think he might not be the very best guy to get on the team now? You think anything like that could happen within his hearing or seeing or rumors?

He would likely be THE most diligent person about that kind of thing extending out even further to other issues like what happened in the front office.

And like TOCCHET WHO PLEAD GUILTY TO GAMBLING INFRACTIONS was for given by the NHL. now i agree there are major differences but Quennville was not on an island all by himself and most of the others have been and are working in the NHL again.

SENIOR management people above him, senior officials of the team. The guy was fired right after the season and was it Quennville's fault none of them included a complaint when that idiot got hired by another team? Who did worse. The coach that DID take it up the chain or the chain that buried it?

The team hired a BOOKIE, lets see the last time a player in MLB admitted to gambling he was eliminated from all related records or attendance. Remember him? But Tocchet who plead guilty to being involved is okay here. Betting on outcome of games he is coaching is okay?

Quennville and multiple, many senior team officials, many, all the way to the very top, all of them and he wasn't the first to know, that is likely the trainer, what about him?

Only a referee can have more of an impact on how a game turns out than a head coach. Singular, one head coach.

A coach that can maneuver a team into multiple OT games where payoffs can be doubled is sacrosanct?
Not saying he does this at all, just an example of how easy it is to blame one person rather than a system or conglomerate.

FYI history; from CBC

Tocchet could have received up to five years in state prison for conspiracy and promoting gambling, charges to which he pleaded guilty in May.

Before being sentenced, Tocchet told Burlington County Superior Court Judge Thomas S. Smith: "I'm sorry to the court, my family and friends I was involved in this."

Tocchet, 43, partnered with former New Jersey state trooper James Harney and another man, James Ulmer,in a sports betting venture they ran for five years.

Are you seriously trying to compare what Tocchet did, with covering up a sexual assault?

Also the quennville apologies and interwievs were vague at best. To me not passing that low public bar is way too telling. Would he be any different from bowman in how he'd conduct himself?

About the game: Räty breakout spring incoming

Time to think positive!

To counter some of the comments on that tweet about "what's the point" "rest him till next season" etc...

I think it's probably important to Thatcher to get back into some games this season to get his mind right for next season. (Regardless if it's here or somewhere else.) Important for other team's to see him return to form, if canucks were going to trade him.

NO, but this market is embracing a criminal that plead guilty.
Quennville was one of maybe 20 people that did knew and did nothing and he wasn't the first to know and he followed the team's rules and NHL policies that didn't cover these issues, probably he wold have thought upper management would take care of it as would be their jobs and it isn't like he was a participant in any act beyond following instructions from the top, 20+ people did that.

IMO it was way worse to not say anything for that guy's next hire, that was a bigger cover up than what he did. Look how long it took before what happened in junior before anything was revealed even from the players, that was horrendous.

Anyone suggesting Quenneville is so morally bankrupt that they might as well delete their account and start over.
Quennville is morally bankrupt?
theguardianIII
Can not a person, Quennville, ever redeem himself?
You cheer for Tocchet and accept him, he who plead guilty to actually doing the crime?

Trainers, assistant coaches, coaches, assistant GMs, VP's, Presidents, mentors, owners.
They all share in this stuff. Once out everyone in the organization knows.

Whoever is without sin cast the first rock.
