Post-Game Talk: GM 63 | Stars def. Canucks | 4-1 (Forbort) | Damn you, goalposts.

We are so lucky to have a 20 year old 3rd round pick D-Petey completely blow our socks off this early. I am seeing some early Edler in him. He plays like an Erik Cernak out there with his big body and ice coverage.

I know his development won’t be linear but the fact that he’s already this good is so crazy.

His emergence as a bonafide NHLer so early is one of, if not, the brightest spot of this otherwise dismal, season of hell.

So former Canuck Casey DeSmith is in goal for Dallas tonight. Too bad Dallas didn't push it to overtime last night.
Hope Lanks has another great game - we'll need it.

Is this a potential western conference final preview
Dallas with Rantanen and Vancouver with a 3rd round pick

I am hoping we take advantage of the tired Stars but backup goalies are our Kryptonite
Well, it's not like we can score less.
I am interested in how this all D no O Canucks team fares going forward. Maybe they can be like classic DPE Devils, minus the predatory bodychecks.

had a dream petey got 2 goals this game they were all complete snipes too. but in this dream he was cellying like crazy i dont see it happening

He actually put both his arms like halfway up after he scored that one-timer.

It wasn't all that jovial but much improved from his usual "somebody just shot my dog" goal reactions.

In the super unlikely scenario that we lose this game, its because its on the road the day that the clocks moved forward. Its super unfair the league would do this to us, they LITERALLY CHANGED HOW TIME WORKS just to screw us over.

Typical Buttman pro US bias and I'm not having it. We arent bad at hockey we are just sleepy cause the league stole time from us.

(if we win its because we are more resilient being on the road and adjusting to the time change)

Dallas Stars
  • Well-coached with a lot of firepower
  • Canucks need to be careful with puck management
  • Mikko Rantanen is so good down low; one of the best hashmark players in the league; heavy guy and have to play him really tight; sometimes need to double up on him
  • Jim Nill has done a terrific job over the years
Hughes
  • Skated with Demko today; both progressing
  • Has had a couple of good days and is hearing the skate went well
  • Don’t want to get too optimistic and just treat it day by day
  • Will ramp it up for 5 minutes to test himself
  • The recovery after the ramp up is what gets monitored
  • Will have to practice with the team and get the coaches’ opinions then talk to him
  • Is here early morning with the rehab team and doing it twice a day; is doing everything possible to get back in the line-up
Lower/Upper Body Injury
  • Would rather just tell people what the injury actually is
  • As of now, the protocol is to obfuscate injuries
Tocchet’s Trade Deadline Experience
  • Has been told by Penguins GM, Craig Patrick, that he wished Tocchet stayed on the team
  • Most of his trades were being sent to a contender
Boeser
  • Talks with him quite a bit but haven’t talked to him about what’s going on
Upcoming Games
  • Need to worry about tonight; right now are playing game-to-game and doesn’t know who they are playing next week
Ovechkin
  • Didn’t think he’d get close two years ago
  • He knows how to score goals; scores from everywhere
  • Not afraid to hit; when the Penguins faced the Capitals in the playoffs, if Ovechkin didn’t score, he was hitting
  • Will do whatever it takes to win

Don’t know where to post this but have seen it posted before and this is a busy thread so it seems like a good start. Mods please move if needed or delete if not allowed. I am headed to Vancouver later this week and will be going to the Saturday the 15th game against the hawks. Before I buy them online, I wanted to see if anyone of you had tickets and couldn’t go so you could possible save the costs those sites charge. DM if interested, I need 2 tickets, preferably lower bowl.

Sorry again if this is not allowed.

Thanks
