Amadio scores a goal and centers our best line, gets rewarded with the press box. No wonder we have been so shit at developing players. Really wish we didn't have to keep playing the vets who have been checked out all season. Since Doughty, Carter and Kopitar have been so disinterested in playing this season, why not give them some games off?

Even if Phaneuf is playing 2 out of every 3 games, assuming there are 7 healthy defenseman, he's still dressed most of the time. They've invested all this money in some of these players, so they're going to play. They won't be given games off because they're disinterested. Name the team that has done that. Even worse teams that the 18-19 Kings don't do that. Want to make an argument to sit them for poor play, ok. That'll be a more difficult argument to make for Doughty/Carter/Kopitar level names, but it'll never be because they're disinterested, even if they are disinterested(from what we must admit, is a subjective perspective from outside of the dressing room).

It's not all that different from most other jobs. Amadio is making $743k, and Lewis makes $2m. If there must be a choice made, especially in a season like this, Lewis will much more likely than not get his 10-12 minutes of ice time over Amadio. That's just life.

So a good young Dman and our 2nd best Dman are out today.

The Bruins are missing Pastrnak though. That's a massive hole in their lineup.

I understand why they won't bench Carter, Kopitar and Doughty. I said I wish they would. I'm tired of watching lazy play and now that all of the contracts are set, it's clear that the veterans have no incentive to try. I would rather watch the newcomers that show heart and effort, than Kopitar lazily swinging his stick at a puck, turning the puck over and looping around before the game winner ends up int he back of our net. Again, you don't have to explain to me why it won't happen, I was being a bit facetious when I said "Why not give them some games off?" It was more a shot at the fact that they so clearly do not want to be playing.

We're as bored of Kopitar as Kopitar is of playing hockey.

i can't find a reason to bench doughty personally

kopitar i'd like to see sit a game to send a message about his lackadaisical play but doughty's been here every night outside of what, a game or two recently? his play hasn't been bad enough to warrant benching

carter and kopi should've both sat a long time ago though

I think Drew still gives a shit, unlike some of the others who seem to be going through the motions.

Groundskeeper Willie’s lineup decisions are curious, for sure. Guess he’s embraced the tank.

Yeah, I may have misplaced my pissiness by including Drew in the list of country club veterans.

Quick is starting after that mediocre game? Oof.

Carter is back?? Back to unmotivated hockey boys.

Not sure I even want to watch tonight, which I know sounds melodramatic but it's deflating watching all the youthful exuberance getting drained out by moody vets.

Young guys continually getting punished for showing heart, scoring.

Keep playing Kopitar #1 defenseman minutes though.

They're punished for being young players, who haven't fully locked up spots yet. Something that was always a positive when Lombardi was here. Young guys having to force veterans out. Well, the vets are still here. Other than Thompson, who got sent away for nothing, so that's why Wagner is still able to play his 8 minutes per night. If Amadio plays, Wagner will sit. Until they get rid of Hagelin.

That was a positive when the vets were also performing, right now they're being outperformed yet aren't being held out.

I wonder if it is in the hope that the vets games pick up and attract interest at the deadline. There are still plenty of games after deadline day to play the youth.

Of course, and you can only play so many people. The logistics and reasons why make sense, I just have little interest in watching shells go through the motions after watching kids go ham.

Man, how fun would Kovalchuk be on a playoff team.

#lose4hughes becoming more to look like #win4krebs or #blackhole4soderstrom
The Kings future can have more stroms than any team though. Soderstrom...Grundstrom...Luffstrom...

Alex Turcotte turning it up and listed #5 here....would not surprise if overtakes Cozens and Dach
and is drafted 3 or 4 overall. I would be fine if the Kings ended up with him.

2019 NHL Mock Draft | 2019 NHL Draft | NHL Draft

Turcotte now has 15 goals in 20 US Dev Team. Still only 17 yrs old.

Amadio isn't going to play instead of Carter if Carter is healthy. That can't be an expectation. It's surprising enough that they've done it with Phaneuf, but Carter is a different animal. There's nobody else to sit after that. Clifford is Mr. King apparently, so he'll be in there. Lewis is Lewis, he'll be in there. Kovalchuk is the big summer signing, he's going to play. Kopitar is rarely on the bench enough to sit, so he'll never sit in the press box. Toffoli has actually started to score recently, so he'll play. You figure they're trying to trade Hagelin, so he has to be out there for scouts. Everyone else is either young, or Brown. If they're trying to somehow trade Carter, he has to be out there like Hagelin. It sucks for Amadio, but he's a victim of the numbers game. As is anyone, if there's anyone, that's worth a damn in Ontario.
