This game, if they lose, could be noted not for who scored, who played, who may have been injured, but who travels/goes to the next game.
This kind of grind it out game keeps skill level depressed on both sides.
I think this could be a goalie battle more than anything, a goalie steal for either team.

Their record is 18 W and 21 L, Canucks 18 W and 20 L and they have played a tougher schedule

Another OT game maybe but the pattern shows a L
really misleading. We have 8 OTL they have 3, and we have a game in hand. So they have had 17 regulation losses vs 12 for Vancouver.

Hopefully they aren't rushing Hughes back, though given the team's medical practices it wouldn't surprise me.
These days aren't a lot of their practices actually medical practices?

It’s been fun (chaotic) with Myers as our 1RD but we need Hronek back desperately.

The loser points make it misleading, this is a win/loss record and at that there are a few SO and OT wins to skew the win/loss records
Losses don't help in the win/loss record no matter which kind. They don't count in the real season only in the easy season when they keep it close to put bums in seats.

It is too bad that a team can lose so many games and be ahead in the easy season standings, to point out the ridiculous, win 12 games and lose 70 in OT , get 94 pts and make the playoffs.
Now that is misleading.

You're forgetting that our #6 was Keith Ballard. I know he played like ass most of the time here, but that's a top 4 defenceman.

We got Christian Ehrhoff for Patrick White. I still feel kind of guilty about that one.
HOW DARE YOU FORGET ABOUT DANIEL RAHIMI

I’ve seen you frequently use this math and it’s a poor way to look at it. 3 on 3 OT is a coinflip and shouldn’t be taken into account for the “real season”. If you want a real record, use regulation record. Using OT wins as a wins but OT losses as losses means you’re putting a ton of stock in 3 on 3 and the shootout not “real season” play

I like our chances here. Habs are playing their first game back after doing a lap of the continent. We've struggled to get results, but our effort imo has been much more consistent. Add in the (probably) positive vibes from EP and QH practicing, multiplied by being a better team on the road so far and it should equal 2 points for the good guys.

Hughes & Pettersson Returning to Practice
  • Gives their teammates juice to see them return
  • Both are excited to be back practicing with the team
  • Would say they are day-to-day but possibility Hughes plays tomorrow
  • Have 24 hours before they make a decision
Hughes’ Leadership
  • Is a calming influence in the locker room
  • A hockey nerd and loves to talk hockey
  • People don’t realize what he does off the ice for the team
Desharnais
  • When you’re in the business, your name gets out there in trade rumours
  • It does help for coaches and teammates to get you through those periods
  • Isn’t sure if the rumours bothered him but does know he has worked
really hard on improving his play over the last 4 or 5 games
  • Has obviously blocked out the noise
  • Has earned the increase icetime
  • Is playing faster and breaking the puck out of the zone more; playing tougher in front of the net
  • Foote came up to Tocchet in the Seattle OT & told him guys were tired and asked if they should go with three forwards and they suggested to try Desharnais
Brisebois
  • Game time decision if he plays
  • Has a soft spot for him because his career was in jeopardy
  • Has been off for a year and has worked his way back
  • Got over his head injury

I really hate the fact that Brandon Tanev received no discipline and no acknowledgement for his dirty ass head hit in a meaningless couple of last minutes of a pre season game. Brisebois looked good that camp and it was really unfortunate.

Piece of shit player. Clearly the screw up of that family. I’m just glad Brisebois was at least getting NHL paychecks for most of the year.
