News/Notes​
  • The Islanders looking to halt a 2 game losing streak after losing to the Dallas Stars and Columbus blue Jackets. The Islanders have given up 11 goals in those 2 losses. The Islanders have allowed five-or-more goals in four of their past eight games in December. Their 3-1 win over Washington was the lone game this month allowing two-or-fewer goals against.
  • This is the second and final meeting between the clubs this season, as the Kings edged the Islanders 3-2 back on Oct. 15. The Islanders nearly came back to tie the contest at Staples Center, with John Tavares narrowly missing the tying goal as time expired. The home team between these 2 have won the last 5 games.
  • Thomas Greiss will be in goal tonight. Greiss allowed five goals on 34 shots in the Islanders loss in Columbus on Thursday. Despite the rough outing yet again, the Islanders will go back to Greiss tonight vs. the Kings. Somehow Greiss has gone 4-3-0 in his last seven starts despite posting an ugly 4.58 GAA and .868 SV%.
  • It hasn't been confirmed, but it seems Darcy Kuemper will most likely start in goal tonight for the Kings.
  • The Kings lost to the New York Ranger last night 4-2. The Kings started the game really well, but could not beat Henrik to start out. Gaborik in his 1,000th career game got a goal and an assist

Kings should let Kuemper start a few games in a row, let Quick restructure his game. He's been poor of late.
 
Well it's pretty obvious they call penalties different in the east, I think the team matters too. Everyone thinks the kings are heavyweight bullies that's why they barely get calls. It's stupid.

Well Forbort and MacD are both pretty useless and one dimensional.

Really loved LaDues game. Surprised he isn't getting any time up
 
Islanders need to open up the equipment purse strings a bit: sticks falling apart, skates falling apart.
