It was bizarre. Like half the NHL dropped their traditional colours or logos or both in like a 5 year period. All the new uniforms looked awful. They all changed back. I think our orca is the only remaining regular full-time uniform feature from that period.

I don’t even know if this is fully true. People used to say the same thing about Vigneault, but the moment they got him puck movers who could also play defense his coaching style completely changed.

Hughes game elevated to a new level the moment Tocchet became coach mid-season, and Hronek has played his best hockey under him too.

Ultimately he wants guys that play hard and are defensively responsible, and doesn’t want the bottom 4 to bleed goals, but management hasn’t gotten him guys that can do that AND move the puck.
