Once again I am forced to wonder what it would cost to get a 50% retained Ethan Bear from Washington. They can't be happy about paying him $2M to toil in the AHL. And if it didn't work out, we could bury him just as easily.
Technically the cap cost would be cheaper to keep him in the A rather than trade him at 50% for WSH

Canucks made the right call shipping out Bains and keeping Sasson, as least for the time being.

He's played in just two games with limited fourth line minutes, but has two points. He's a far swifter player, and causes problems in the O-zone with his speed.

Besides, if his Dad keeps following him in this Eastern Road swing, it's worth it just to see his reaction when his son scores his first NHL goal.

Sasson has definitely had a solid couple of games. Like what I’m seeing from him, hope he can keep up the good play. His speed and utility is a good fit on the fourth line.

The funniest part is that Black Friday isn't even a holiday.

It would be one thing if the game was on Thursday.

12pm noon on a day when most people will be at work is crazy.

The funniest part is people complaining about a start time for a hockey game. It's a game we watch for enjoyment. If it's important to you watch it. If not do what's more important to you at that time.

How entitled do people have to be to think that professional sports games should revolve around their own personal life and schedules as compared to the wishes of the teams themselves and even other people? My gawd that's silly. Let alone thinking that opposing teams aren't organizing the games when they feel is the best time, or that everyone should cater to Canucks fans. Wow, just completely wow. No wonder people on the coast get stereotyped.

The thing is, a lot of American companies have the common sense to give their employee Friday off too to make it a 4 days break

Adjustments from Last Game
  • All know that they need to start better; issue with the team has been the first 10 minutes
  • Getting behind the 8-ball too much
Hronek
  • Still being evaluated
  • Will see a couple of more people
  • Not available and doesn’t know the length
Forbort
  • Is skating
  • Doesn’t know the exact timeline
  • Has been skating enough to get some traction
Defence by Committee
  • Need to come together as a group
  • Mentions how they need to handle things like the Senators game when Hughes got ejected
Miller
  • It’s a huge hole in the line-up
  • Is a play driver and they miss him dearly
  • Last 5 games some guys have stepped up
  • When he comes back, it will be like a blockbuster trade
  • Guys have handled his absence pretty well

There is "bad luck", like having Demko sustain a bizarre first ever injury or Miller needing to take a leave of absence or Boeser being cheap shotted or Pettersson playing like a bum for an extended period of time, and then there is "bad management" when you build a defense that is a bottom five defense or whatever in the NHL if one of the two best defensemen is injured.
Pettersson did it 100% healthy to boot!

Guy is just lazy and doesnt give a hoot.

I'm OK with that, even though merely entertaining the thought of Hughes and the Chaos Giraffe makes me want to throw up.

Hope the team can endure the storm until most are back to healthy form. And please for all that is good and holy, NO, PANIC, TRADES...

What a test of the team today.

It'll have to be defense by committee, and hopefully Lankinen can pull off another fantastic performance.
