Yeah we don’t have the D or the center depth to go offensive right now.
The gameplan should be similar to last year, conservative defense, win the special teams and get offense off the forecheck.

Somehow the PP is producing despite looking super ass and the PK is mostly good so we should be able to get by until Miller and Demko comes back. See how the team plays after that and then trade for a D early Jan.

He’s going to be worth every penny. The way he’s playing right now, you can throw him with like McWard and he’ll still win the matchup
.
Which is why I think it's pathetic that we have to put Hronek with him... We're paying Hronek to do what Myers can..play with Hughes. We may as well just kept like schenn and horvat imo

Garland’s constant use of going down on a knee is so strangely unique but really cool. Like that play to corral the breakout pass by putting his stick flat on the ice.
That was such a unique, clever play. I don't think I've ever seen that before.
You know what’s weird ?

Both Garland and Boeser requested a change of scenery (trade) then both retracted after it couldn’t be accommodated quickly. Now both are thriving….

I still wanna know what happened with Nate Schmidt and wanting a trade out of here 20 games after signing here. Odd.
Schmidt was acquired from Vegas for a 3rd round pick because they needed to clear cap within 12 hours.

He got it wrong

You play to your strength, this team can score goals even without Miller

You try to score your way out of the problem for now, not trying to defence the 1 goal lead for a period
they never play the full 60mins. always has to end in dramatic fashion. garland is such a fun player to watch

Connor Garland gets his stick and body so low to the ice, that it's almost impossible for a puck to actually slip through him.

At times he plays like the 'flipper' on a pinball machine. I know some fans see Dylan Guenther as the 'one that got away'. But right about now, I'm not sure you'd swap Garland for anyone.
Garland is an incredible player and very unique but lets not act like that trade was anything but an unmitigated disaster.

Especially with a 21 year old Guenther sitting pretty with 10 goals and 20 points and OEL's cap on the docchet!

Knowing our luck, Jimbo probably would have drafted Tyler Boucher over Guenther if we had that pick. :p:

It's called multitasking. duh.

I'm certain he didn't shoot there because there was no shot. Daniel did this all the time. Better % play was to pass.
I meant in general. We've witnessed a big decline in Petey shooting and his previous accuracy doesn't seem to be there.

This couldn't be more wrong.

Outscoring your problems only works if you have a McDavid. This is a system-oriented team and when you have a bunch of guys out you double down on the system.

If Hughes isn't on the ice, this is a below-average offensive team right now. If we try to run-and-gun our season will be over by Christmas.
I have to disagree

So many times this season where they tried to defend the 1-2 goals lead for the entire 3rd and ends up blowing it or almost blew it.

For this game, I’m confident to say that had they kept pushing after 3-1, they won that game in regulation. Sabres is not good defensively

They were extremely good at shutting teams down last season. It looks like a totally different team this season.

I watched the PVR, and I don’t really get why everyone’s stoked on this team? I’m seeing a team barely clinging on most nights and eeking out wins they probably shouldn’t.

I know we have serious injuries, but how does anyone watch this and think cup contender? Was that not the stated goal? Big things need to happen for even a chance of that.

I know I’m negative blah blah, but I don’t care about playoffs, I care about a cup.

You don’t go from Benning managed team to cup contender in like 2 years.

I think people are optimistic considering how injured we are right now and this management has shown that they have the ability to make trades to improve the team and will probably do it soon enough.

Do you care about progression? In sports there is no switch you can just turn on and win a cup.

The GM, and Oresident stated the cup was the goal this year. I’m literally just going off what they said
