Last year we had some hot hands in Hoglander Boeser and Joshua. All 3 were mostly ineffective and have been most the year with the exception of Brock before getting his head taken off by a 4th line plug
Man do we miss Miller
Silovs is pretty much unplayable.
Btm 4 defense is terrible. Soucy cant make a play. Myers looks slower and is struggling more because of it and nobody is gnna help or take minutes off his plate.
Brannstrom Juulsen Desharnais vs Cole Friedman Zadorov is a disaster

The missed call on Debrusk was pukeworthy and same with the stick on stick vs Karlsson by Garland.

Liked some of the resiliency but we should have been more dominant down low and the faster team and outside of a few individual efforts we just weren't. Slow of foot slow to make plays slow to make good defensive reads. More than just bad goaltending

Would it be fair to say that Silovs is a case of someone who looked good because they weren't scouted super well? Yeah, sure, one stinker here or there, but he seems to have been consistently bad, or, to be charitable, mediocre, all season.

Canucks probably deserved, on the play, a point or two out of this game. Undone by poor first and shoddy goal tending.

Good

Suter - another good effort. Needs to stay at center. Most effective there. Has emerged as excellent pick up by the team. Player is good every zone at the present time.

Hughes - just a great goal. Maybe he should try that more often. With out him or Hronek this team is cooked.

Hronek - 8 mill now looks very appropriate. His range and ice coverage is elite.

Sherwood - not just the effort since his skill level continues to look high end. Good skater, good shot, good passer - consistently among best players. Not trying to get on Boeser but is Sherwood better overall?

Blueger - both in the run of the play and on the PK, he was critical. Always know what you are going to get.

Pettersson - having Miller out might be a blessing in disguise. Pettersson has assumed much more of a leadership role. Continues to improve. Given the earlier despair over his contract, this is best development the team could hope for.

Others

Silovs - looked awful. Giving up so much net and bunting pucks back into his crease He is down low as soon as the puck comes across the red line. Stays deep in his net and guys can walk in and casually pick any corner they want. Saves he did make were mostly sprawls were he just dove out at the puck or flattened himself on the ice. A couple of stops early and the Canucks have a good chance of winning. To date, you have to say he has failed badly.

Juulsen - not NHL standard.

Raty - nice to see him score. Brings more heaviness than expected.

Myers - Brannstrom pairing is not really working. Neither had a very good game. Soucy, also, continues to struggle

Hoglander - took some positive steps IMO. Still getting standing still too much and still not really into the flow of the play. But was getting puck to the net better (not a high bar for him to meet given recent play) and created some turnovers. Sometimes a player can move from being very poor to okayish as a prelude to breaking out. Can only hope this is the case.

Have to like the effort the team showed coming back. Demko can't come back too soon.

And Lankinen has the same defense in front of him, except he does his job.
He's had to stand on his head a few times. But hey, if that's how we win then good luck once the schedule actually gets tough.

The red flags are starting to become concerning.

That twitter doctor guy who predicts injuries as soon as they happen (forget his handle) thinks Hronek injury is serious. Seperation or broken collar bone.

To be fair, there's not many good goalies in the league this year.

There's Helle who is the only true elite in his own tier... then you have guys like Vasi, Daccord, Stolarz, Gustavsson and Oettinger. The rest are mediocre

Sure. But you can't expect your goalie to bail you out night after night. Let's face it. Last night in Beantown, Lankinen was the first, second and third star. The Canucks really had no business winning that game.

When your goaltender consistently has to be your best player in order to win, then the coaches and players need to start looking in the mirror.

Hughes is just special. Quickly approaching top 5 player in the NHL. Hronek is having a monster year, sacrificing some offence to be a complete dman. Would be a shame if he got injured. With Willander/Mynio/Pettersson/Kudryatsev looking as good as they are the defence is looking extremely exciting for the future.

The team deserved to lose against Boston. Without Lankinen having horseshoes up his ass this would be a bottom 5 team.

The only reason why Hronek is a Canuck is because he missed his entire last season with the wings because of a shoulder injury.

We knew what we signed up for when we extended him.
