I remember in 2009 when we went on our monster slide before the Carolina game, there were players that noticeably cared and wanted to win but just weren't getting results. I didn't blame them for our losses. It wasn't the whole team, just the same 5 or 6 guys. Burrows said as legend goes: "Satisfaction leads to complacency."
I have no idea who on this team fits that bill outside of one guy - Luke Schenn. He's worked his ass off to resurrect his game and is a guy that cares, doesn't pout, plays a hard team game, and is a veritable leader.
You wanna know the dirty, rotten truth? I think Luke is perhaps the only player I can bring myself to root for right now. Everyone else varies from night to night. Who knows if JT Miller is going to be "light the world on fire, I don't give a f*** and I'm angry" or "poor me, I'm doing my job". Who knows if OEL is going to look like he'd rather be anywhere else or that he actually enjoys playing hockey for a living. Bo Horvat god bless him is scoring, but he ain't doing enough and his attitude just stinks of complacency. Those are our veteran guys who ought to be bigger presences and for most of the season they've been checked out, deflecting questions, wanting to be coddled. And everyone else is taking heed.
f*** Aquilini for letting it get this bad. This entire franchise is a joke, and because I'm some sort of masochist I'm in it for the long haul. But this right here is the worst I've ever felt about this team.
This pro-Aquilini caller on the after-show is fascinating. Talk about being a contrarian.
