I saw something about how management will probably keep Bruce as they think it'll net them a better pick and couldn't help but laugh. Is our management this clueless? Do they not see this dogshit roster they've put together? We legitimately only have 1 defenceman I would comfortably call a top-4 defenceman - OEL really depends on which side of the bed he wakes up on.

It can be both (and his name is "Brad" Shaw).
Lol yeah Brad, damn Travis.

But still how many coaches until it's the right structure, even after having a winning successful coach and still blaming him like wow.

It would be like a team taking Pat Quinn back in the day and saying his structure sucks, even though he's proven to be one of the best but no let's blame his structure because his record obviously doesn't mean anything. Like come on here.

Players have left the Canucks and gone on to be good PK'ers with other teams...IMO its a mix of bad coaching and consistent deployment of morons on the PK...you'll never get good "structure" from guys like Miller or Myers, yet they continually get prime PK time.

Yes Travis was a bad coach, hence why they brought in a specialist for the D for structure in Shaw and it didn't help because the players on D are bad. Markstrom and Demko have been bailing this team out for years. I'm not a fan of Miller I wanted him traded, his lack of effort is ridiculous especially when things don't go his way, no way he should of been resigned. Brocks another guy who needs to be gone as well, I don't just hate the D, but it's been obvious for years and nothing is changing except playing the blame game on structure now, which is ridiculous because the D is pathetic.

Won't get an argument from me there...I just don't think we've had great coaching to go along with our shoddy lineups. It's been a colossal failure from the very top, to the very bottom.

Agreed. He looked slow.

This pro-Aquilini caller on the after-show is fascinating. Talk about being a contrarian.
It really worries me that there are people out there that are that oblivious to reality.

I also see those weird guys on Aquilini's twitter that gush over him and thank him for being such an amazing owner.

Was working with intention of watching PVR. Had score ruined for me and I'm not wasting my night.

The team's culture is broken.

I remember all of the hatred that Benning got as if he was the problem. He was a problem.

The problem is our ownership. It's absolutely dysfunctional.

Our current management had so much goodwill to deal with simply by not being Benning and they have already burned through it.

How do you sign Miller before Horvat?

Did they not see what a quitter Miller was in 2021?

Does anyone think Miller would be playing this badly if his contract was up at the end of the year? I don't, because Miller plays for Miller.

Not sure what's up with Demko but echo those saying it starts getting concerning right now. Martin's an okay goaltender, a great story, and seems like a good guy.

He looks like Demko's dad currently. Demko looks absolutely lost. I'm not sure what's going on.

Let's not forget there was some murkiness around Demko's year ending with an injury last year, right? And Seravelli quoted some executive for another team saying we should trade him now because his hips are bad.

I hope and pray that that stays as ridiculous sounding as it was at the time.

-

At this point, I'm keeping Petey and Hughes. I would like to keep Horvat and punt Miller (unlikely) and I keep Podkolzin barring a big overpay. Keep Demko as well unless you're sure he's shot (I don't think he is).

Anyone else I don't really care anymore.

And I have never really said this before, but I think this year is the year to lean into the descent. We could literally have a 1 or 2 year turnaround if we get a high pick and make a couple of astute moves (like having our piece of shit owner sell the team).

Yepp when your coaching is now at a level of badness,,how can you get a bad line up that he has been given,to play with any structure.,I'm throwing this at management right now..Lots of talk,,and still the same shit.

I remember in 2009 when we went on our monster slide before the Carolina game, there were players that noticeably cared and wanted to win but just weren't getting results. I didn't blame them for our losses. It wasn't the whole team, just the same 5 or 6 guys. Burrows said as legend goes: "Satisfaction leads to complacency."

I have no idea who on this team fits that bill outside of one guy - Luke Schenn. He's worked his ass off to resurrect his game and is a guy that cares, doesn't pout, plays a hard team game, and is a veritable leader.

You wanna know the dirty, rotten truth? I think Luke is perhaps the only player I can bring myself to root for right now. Everyone else varies from night to night. Who knows if JT Miller is going to be "light the world on fire, I don't give a f*** and I'm angry" or "poor me, I'm doing my job". Who knows if OEL is going to look like he'd rather be anywhere else or that he actually enjoys playing hockey for a living. Bo Horvat god bless him is scoring, but he ain't doing enough and his attitude just stinks of complacency. Those are our veteran guys who ought to be bigger presences and for most of the season they've been checked out, deflecting questions, wanting to be coddled. And everyone else is taking heed.

f*** Aquilini for letting it get this bad. This entire franchise is a joke, and because I'm some sort of masochist I'm in it for the long haul. But this right here is the worst I've ever felt about this team.

This pro-Aquilini caller on the after-show is fascinating. Talk about being a contrarian.

Missed it on Sportsnet and left the Sportsnet 650 radio broadcast when it got to be 3-0. Can't really get worked up about this Canuck team any more. Mediocre management; soft and slow team on the ice; and bad ownership. What you see is what you're going to get now and into the future. So what's the point?

Bring on the CFL Western Final and the World Cup. At least players, coaches and management who actually care even though they're paid pittance by comparison.

Yep. Such a shame. We're playing like a bottom feeder yet will likely end up middle of the pack by seasons end. There is also something rotten about this team that only a total house cleaning of some major personnel will fix. Hard to feel excited about anything now or coming down the line.

Has Demko won the goaltender duel a single time this season? People are quick to blame the defense but if a Top 10 goalie isn't stealing some games, regardless of defense, then he's not a top 10 goalie

Poor Pearson

Apparently he injured his hand while taking 2 stupid penalties, losing a key faceoff, and tipping a goal into his own net

We can only hope he is out for a while

His SV% is slightly higher than his career shootout stats right now.

Yea.. I don't want to hear about defensive woes until he's putting up remotely acceptable numbers. Every team looks like shit when you can't get a save.

It's almost like bruce is trying to get out of this mess
It's almost like nobody wants the status quo, with Rutherford is trying to get Boudreau to resign, Boudreau trying to get fired and the players just skating around waiting to see who the new coach will be.
