These players are incapable of playing a structure. I firmly believe that.
Why do I say this? Because it doesn’t matter what system you are talking about there are common characteristics to all. Especially in your own zone. They simply have way too many players incapable of performing to an acceptable level on the defensive side of the puck.
Would you say he’s a ……Pearson of interest?Any update on pearson?
I think they look better. They attempt to play a system now. But really it's the same flawed team. Recent contending teams either have the blue line as the strength of the team or like the Penguins they had at least one absolute stud and then decent competent depth throughout. How is it Bruce got this page to play decently for 2/3 of a season last year?
Was Brad Hunt that much of a diff maker on D?
Its amazing, they look worse than they did under Green at this time last year
The perfect match was Tanev.OEL is a $2M max player, so he's trash, he's slow, has no shot, and he likes to kill offensive opportunities when he has the puck just useless.
Myers is garbage, I haven't liked him since day 1, he thinks he's like a 5'9 speedster or something when he's obviously not, he's such a liability to a team defensively, and his decision thinking is just brutal.
Schenn honestly is a slow guy, who should never be in your top 4, but because this D is pure crap he's a top 4 on this team and yet he shouldn't be, for his value he's one of our best D and that's sad. Imo he should be making Poolmans salary and Poolman should be on Schenns salary.
Hughes, yes he's a skilled offensive defensemen, but he does lack in the defensive zone due to his size, hence why pairing him with a good stay at home defenseman is key, a Willie Mitchell type player would be a perfect match imo.
Rathbone is like having another Hughes just not as skilled, and if that's how you want to role then again you need another good stay at home D for him, but we don't have any, so he's a liability unfortunately.
Bear still evaluating still a small sample size, he's been okay I think, but he's also kind of small imo so I don't know having that many smaller guys on D is really going to help you unless they're scoring all the time and that's not happening.
Stillman is just bad, when I watched him ice the puck on a delayed offside that was it, write off.
So the same structure that's made Bruce a winning coach everywhere he goes, okay man sure. This structure that is being deployed is clearly shit along with a bad team.
So no he shouldn’t escape criticism
Bingo.The perfect match was Tanev.
This was known since that draft.Boldy looks like a first line forward. Caufield is going to score 40.
Pod is struggling mightily. Sigh I will stop posting and keep drinking good night
Bingo.
I remember back when I was on CDC defending Tanev because lots wanted him gone for some bizarre reason, I said you need this guy if you ever expect to win playoffs. Losing him for nothing was ridiculous.

The parents failed to think about the kids during the divorce….The perfect match was Tanev.
$$$$Exact same performance as against Ottawa, but got the result they deserved. First 30 minutes were pathetic, last 30 they outshot Montreal 24-9 and hit 3 posts but it wasn't enough.
Another .827 goaltending performance from Demko. Guy is an absolute sieve right now. Starting to get legitimately concerning.
Boudreau keeps benching kids, but the critical mistakes keep coming from the same Myers/Pearson/Miller group of players.
Studnicka was decent again. Hoglander showed life but still is handling the puck like a hand grenade - good that he scored, though. Schenn solid again. Bear showed well again. Pettersson was good on the PK. That's about it.
Myers and Pearson are absolute boat anchors right now.
Kyle Burroughs was our best defensive defender for the first 8 games of the season. Comical to be watching these terrible defensive performances while he sits in the press box.
Rathbone, at this point, is not an NHL defender. Just a total hot mess defensively.
Boudreau looks confused and lost. Bizarre roster decisions. Zero on-ice structure. Management doesn't want him here. Why is he still here?
I can understand a GM decided to go another route (eg., maybe he was tired of Tanev getting injured all the time, etc.,). But if you're going that direction (as in the case of Dan Hamhuis), why let a player walk for nothing when you have ZERO intention of re-signing him? Tanev obviously had value (as did Hamhuis to a lessor extent).Bingo.

Yeah. There are just way too many instances where you see a player doing something moronic, completely outside of any actual "system" to ignore.
We're got a bunch of freelancers here. Unfortunately. That's probably it.
Probably because there never has been any visible "structure" under any of those guys...they all relied on Markstrom/Demko.For the ones trying to blame the structure. Please tell me why the Travis Green structure didn't work? Or the Travis Shaw structure didn't work?

Yes, Jim Benning came into an organzation with few assets/prospects. But he did little to help his cause by bleeding those few assets he had (Markstrom, etc.,)
Travis Shaw was the specialist in that category.Probably because there never has been any visible "structure" under any of those guys...they all relied on Markstrom/Demko.
It can be both (and his name is "Brad" Shaw).Because he was horrible at his job lol.
Travis Shaw was the specialist in that category.
Wake up and smell the roses, it's the players.
