I dont think Stewart played that bad. Dawes is ****tin the bed though.

I agree on the Stewart thing. Maybe they'll put him with Getzlaf and Carter. That would be a hell of a line to play against.

Then Ladd can go down to 13th forward. I don't mind Ladd killing the odd penalty when one of the go to penalty killers is in the box or filling in for a forward that gets the wind knocked out of them, but I don't want him getting a ton of other ice.

Remember kids, just say no to Andrew Ladd. ;)

Sounds like a sweet idea. I know people were pushing to get Ladd as 13th forward, and now with Colliton back, someone will have to be relegated. That would be a sweet line though (Carter-Getzlaf-Stewart)

Stewart 6'1 233
Getzlaf 6'3 209
Carter 6'4 207

I'd hate to be a defensmen when these guys are on the ice.

The top two lines will remain the same according to TSN. Stewart has been demoted to the 4th line and Colliton, now healthy, will play with Richards and Dawes.

None of them have played any better then Ladd...

I completely agree. I would add Dixon and Stewart to that list also.

I don't know why people are so down on Ladd right now. I thought he played a fairly solid game last night. He didn't do anything flashy (nice assist though) but didn't do anything to hurt the team either. Let's see what goes down against Sweden on Monday afternoon.

^While personally I've liked Getzlaf's play a fair amount, I don't think Ladd has been horrible. Although he did let a few glorious passes bounce away from him, mishandled the puck and misread some plays a few times.

Does it come as a surprise to anyone else that Glass gets another start? He was fine in goal but I would have thought Beauchemin would have gotten a start and then they would go from there. I guess Sutter wants to establish a number one goalie early :dunno:

I'm surprised...Glass didn't had a good game vs. Slovakia. Beauchemin would have been better and would be better for the next game. I'm expecting a great game for Linberg so Glass will have to stand out vs. Sweden.

I'm hearing rumours that Sutter likes Beauchemin more but is being convinced by other(s) to start Glass instead because he's more technically sound. If that's the case, I'm on Sutter's side.

If that's the case then I have to question having Brent Sutter as the head coach if he isn't willing to make a decision. Team Canada doesn't need a technical goalie. They need a guy who will make the saves on short notice after going long spurts without facing anything. Glass still has time to prove himself but so far he is 0-1.

Glass let in some bad goals against Slovakia, and his confidence is probably not very high right now. I'm guessing that by putting him back in, Sutter is trying to get that confidence back.

this is Brent Sutter's team, I sincerely doubt anybody will tell him how to run it. Glass is in because right now Glass is the best chance we have at a gold medal, end of story.

btw, "I'm hearing rumours" is not a credible source -- especially not when those "rumours" are started by some 12 year old kid on a different board making things up. cite your sources, or don't bother.

If that's the case, he still made his decision.

Colin Fraser certainly has. He's played extremely well on the PK. Did you notice that he was the first forward out on the 5 on 3 PK? Did you notice his setting up a goal on a plate for MacArthur? He's also been extremely effective on the 4th line. The hate on for Fraser is getting really tiresome as it's totally unfounded. Sure he doesn't stand out but ask any hockey people (not posters on message boards) and they really like the little things that he does on the ice.

edit: One more thing. Fraser is one of the best players at taking faceoffs. A number of times you'll see him out there to win a crucial faceoff then skating off for a change once that is accomplished. That's an important ingredient to have for any team as controlling the puck is paramount. It's not all about the flashy players people...

I suspect that Sutter was pissed at the defensive play, and, to esnure that the players don't just sluff it off on the goalie, he is going RIGHT back to the same goalie. By doing this, it is CLEAR that Sutter wasn't happy with the defense. If you switch the goalie, then the defense doesn't feel as much heat.

Though Getzlaf has to stop taking stupid penalties, as well as start putting the puck in the net. I'm pretty sure that's what he was chosen to do and he hasn't been producing.

I agree with you, Canada needs players like Fraser to be successful. I was pleased with his contributions. I also did not think Ladd was horrible, i think Stewart and Dawes would have wanted to play better and tonite they get that chance.

I agree on Fraser, but we both know that he has the inside track on ice time over just about everyone else that plays a similar game to him.

Dawes for me has to get ice time. He has proven that he can play at this level last year. This time around he's has started slow, but I won’t give up on one of last years top scorers until at least quarter finals.

To be honest Getzlaf has impressed me. I don't think I could justify benching him.

Exactly!!!!

Plus, unless Sutter told these guys off the start that he'd switched up after Game 1 no matter what, you create a possible controversy. There is no need for that in such a short tourney.

Nobody tells Brent Sutter what to do, and Brent Sutter doesn't minice words. He is not afraid to place blame at the feet of someone who is not performing well (ie Anthony Stewart)
