Are we sellers or buyers? Just when I thought DLwas gonna write the season off, he starts clearing space.........hmmmm, so are we competing?

"The move makes sense when considering that Kevin Gravel and Brayden McNabb have grabbed a hold of the 5/6 spots on the blueline, but it makes less sense given that Matt Greene was placed on injured reserve, just yesterday. Surprising move. Especially with Greene on IR, I would think we'd want Gilbert, a serviceable vet, as our #7. I dont get why we call up LaDue unless he's going to play? If its just to be the #7 guy, he's better off playing in Ontario.

I have to think its a move for Muzzin or Martinez going somewhere. But even then, why waive Gilbert now

The defense gets awfully young if you trade Muzzin or Martinez unless you are getting a veteran d-man coming back as well. With Greene injured, Gilbert waived, and McNabb and Muzzin not having a great years it seems risky to rely heavily on rookies or Doughty and Martinez playing 30 minutes a game. DL is definitely in quite a pickle, can he improve the offense without gutting the defense?
 
So Gilbert and Purcell both have been waived now.

I guess the summer signings haven't quite worked out...

Latta traded.

Zatkoff has been the worst goalie to put on a Kings jersey since Cloutier.

Trotman has only appeared in 9 games for Ontario due to injuries.

I think we know where Dean spent his offseason when looking for talent...

Greene on t h email IR is the only thing that isn't shocking.

Aw, c'mon! The Summer 2016 signings were not unlike the Summer 2011 signings, and we all know how that turned out! :naughty:
 
I seriously wonder if Dean will try for Trouba.


Dreams of Landeskog, Hanzal, and E. Kane are nice & all, but our D could be MUCH better if we had the 3 right-handed guys to go along with the 3 left-handed guys.


As it stands, we've got 1 right-handed guy and 5 left-handed guys, which is crappy.

They would want Forbert in return which I wouldn't do. Gravel wouldn't be enough. They might take Muzzin but DL wouldn't likely do that. I absolutely hate seeing AMart playing on the right.

Everybody is going to hate this, but, assuming Dean believes he cannot afford to re-sign/keep BOTH Pearson AND Toffoli, would it be feasible to trade Toffoli for Trouba+?


If we add Landeskog & Hanzal, while subtracting Toffoli to acquire Trouba, there might be something there....

Or they don't trade one of the few young forwards capable of scoring goals on this team for yet another defenseman and just develop Paul LaDue.

Forbort, Gravel and LaDue are the types of contracts and young dmen that have to come up and become regulars in the lineup over the next couple of seasons and are great additions to go alongside veterans in Doughty, Muzzin and Martinez. Now if they elected to move one of their two left handed veterans for a right handed shot to balance things out, that's great. But dealing from a position of weakness to address that wouldn't really be solving any issues, it'll only create more.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but was it you who made the claim (just last weeK?) that Brodzinski is the best pure sniper the Kings have drafted since Cammalleri? If this is truly the case, then yes, we can afford to part with Toffoli, especially if the salary cap will prohibit Dean from giving raises to BOTH Pearson AND Toffoli.....

Landeskog / Kopitar / Gaborik
Pearson / Carter / E. Kane
King / Hanzal / Brown
Clifford / Shore / Lewis
.....Seto, Nolan


Forbort / Doughty
Muzzin / Trouba
Martinez / LaDue
.....Gravel


I'm still working on the details. When it's finished, I'll make a thread about it..... ;)
 
So you are suggesting the cap will restrict the Kings from retaining both Pearson and Toffoli, but somehow the Kings will manage to add Landeskog, Kane, Hanzal and Trouba?

Oh boy.

The idea would be that Landeskog & Kane would be @ 50% retention...... ....and that we PRAY for the Knights to take draft Brown in the off-season. LoL, how much would we have to give Vegas to make this happen? :laugh:


We'd also be shedding the salaries of Toffoli, McNabb, Dowd, and I'm not sure who else....

Kings dont need help on D they need a replacement for Lucic.

Purcell couldn't cut it.

If I was Dean though and the Kings are in the playoffs come April, I would very cautious giving anything more than a 3rd away. Kings cannot afford to lose 1st or 2nd round picks anymore.

I would hope DL does what he did years back and picks up guys like Modin for a low cost.

Also SO happy we didnt keep Lucic. He's been trash in Edmonton... and 7 years!!! lolzzzzzzzzzz
