Both were cap dumps that costed a 2nd round pick, I don't think they've turned their value around that much.

Devils are enjoying a very nice streak, but they're not in some honey-moon stage where you're going to get their 1st round pick for that garbage..

So the idea here is that the team is going to take Dougie off PP and replace him with Ghost? That's the solution to fixing the PP?

Aside from that, Fitz has already stated that any moves he would look to make would be for people with term and I certainly wouldn't give up a first for those two rentals.

Gostisbehere@50% & Nick Ritchie@50% (3.5M cap space) for Andreas Johnsson (buried 2.275M) & their 1st
Would help their power play...
Clear cap space by sending down waiver exempt Bahl (and 1st call up for injuries).

Would it really help their power play?

;)
Yes, the current Coyotes power play is 4th in the league thanks to Ritchie and Gostisbehere @ almost 30%. NJ is currently 22nd under 20 %. Most teams have 2 power play units. We are also talking about a buried contract and not taking back a current NHL contract and Bahl reassigned to the AHL is about the 23 contracts and having depth.

Probably fair and will be similar to what we get at the TDL, but I think we can get more for those two retention spots, and possibly more for Ghost alone.

I thought I was being generous. I also like when a poster said for a 1st, like all 1st rounders have the same value, when in reality it is probably a pick in the 30s.

I think the Devils would be looking to trade something like a 1st and Holtz for Meier.
Fitz is most likely looking to make hockey trades for a player that's going to stick around. Definitely not in the market for rentals or cap dumps.

Not saying that Meier deal would happen... though I really want to to... but just an example.

A 1st+ for ghost?

Come on
... conveniently leaving out the buried contract and Nick Ritchie!

I think later in the season Severson will be traded for a forward and don't forget about the cap implications.

Now tell me the success % of the second powerplay unit for these other teams compared to the success % of NJD. Then tell me how with more than 60 games left, the outcome is going to be very beneficial for a 1st round pick. I am I rival team fan and I can see how atrocious this is.

Let's be real here, your thought process is "There's no way NJD are going to keep this going all season and we'll be laughing away with their first round pick.". You didn't make this thread because you wanted a low first. You want to take a gamble on their season getting out of control.

Devils GM has stated that he is not looking for rentals at this point. He is looking for hockey trades that could help for the next few years

Devils would only be trading for young talent under contract. They have too many dmen already, with two promising prospects waiting to join as soon as next season. They have no reason to do this, especially for a first round. They also don’t need Ritchie, they need top end talent that pushes a couple guys down the depth chart.
