I am from Berlin.
Since my early days I was a fan of Preussen. So I just can´t go to the Eisbären...
Unless Bokk plays there of course :)

Haha fair enough.

Sounds like I'm the only one who can catch games regularly then, eh? If there's one advantage North Rhine Westphalia has over other parts of the country, that's the one.

Ever since I received "Brett Hull Hockey 95" (computer game) as a gift from my father I am hooked to Hockey and stats :)

Occassionally I stayed up late to follow Felix Schütz, Gogulla and some others to follow their games in Canadian youth leagues via liveticker and would get mad when Schütz again lost 9/10 faceoffs :D

I just kind of like following promising german talents from their early days and hope that they make the NHL someday and improve the national team.

A lot more entertaining following prospects from Germany. Unlike the bigger hockey countries Germany only has a select few we hope will eventually make the NHL. I still remember watching Kuhn and Rieder play in the OHL back in 2010, pretty cool considering they're in the NHL today.

Random question in a random thread: where are you guys who are posting here from? Any chance to see DNL games where you live?
Went to a couple of DNL games here in Rosenheim, mainly to check out Reichel live. Wasn't as impressive as i thought and the puck drop on sunday's at 10am really doesn't work with my sleeping habits.

I still don't understand why Reichel is listed by Central Scouting.

He skates like he is in quicksand.

Has anybody seen Tim Fleischer? Only was able to see him once but he impressed me. He was very fast, great puck handling too. He is one to keep an eye on.

Btw are there any pro players that are comparable to Appendino (way undersized playmaking defender)?

Can't think of anyone as undersized as Appendino. Rafalski was small but not that small.

A few years ago there was another really small defender in German junior hockey, Nicolai Quinlan, but he was not as promising as Appendino.
I think Appendino will have a good chance to make it in the DEL, anything more than that could be problematic.

Just got back from the KEC @ DEG game.

Bokk FINALLY played impressively. He had several great offensive scenes and while normally being a shoot-first kind of player, especially his playmaking was great. Great vision and offensive awareness, played some nice passes in the NZ and OZ. Finished with a goal and an assist, and especially the assist was perfect. Also had a 1-on-0 chance, finished it with a nice deke and backhand shot, beat the goalie but hit the post.

Bindels was alright as well, but it was clearly visible that he isn't the one driving play. Bokk and Köhler are the drivers, Bindels is a true passenger. However, he does his job well and displays some nice two-way ability. Very physical player, too. I think he could become a strong complementary player for a more skilled playmaker one day.

Köhler missed his chance to be drafted and I don't think overagers from German junior ever make it, but he was outstanding. Really liked him last season already, and he is even better this year. Shouldn't be long before he turns pro in Cologne or their farm teams.

Thanks for the write up. Any thoughts on Erik Betzold, I read some time ago that he has pretty good hands, but I have never seen him play.

Good to hear. Hopefully he has another strong showing today.

Noticed him a lot because he was constantly buzzing around the puck, but wasn't very successful with it. Hasn't been standing out so far.

Just watched the Jungadler play Krefeld, thankfully today the stream was good and Mannheim had there blue jerseys on.

Bastian Eckl- He impressed me the most in this game. Unfortunately missed his first goal he scored but even without it he had quite a game. Numerous times he was able to move around the boards in the offensive zone protecting the puck. He is very quick in noticing the lose pucks and quickly accelerates for them. He is a very capable passer, on the second goal he was able to hit a nice backhand pass stick to stick while Glaser was speeding through the neutral zone. His second goal he demonstrated a very quick release, and great accuracy by shooting top right in the slot. I will say that he was caught standing on the second goal, and sometimes lost control of the puck. Nonetheless he had a fantastic game.

Yannik Valenti- Wasn't that good this game, he lost control of the puck to often. He had some bad passes as well. On the power play he was on the point, and a few times he would just shoot into a defender that was a few feet in front of him. He got more conservative and smarter as the game went on, but in the second he tried to do to much.

Luca Gläser- Both of his goals he was just able to speed through multiple defenders. I wasn't paying too much of attention towards him but it seemed he had a nice game as well.

Moritz Seider- Played a good defensive game few errors, and wasn't really caught out of positioning. What really caught my eye was his offensive ability, his goal was a very well placed wrist shot from the the top of the slot. He created a chance by going full speed through the neutral zone hit a backhand pass give and go with Stachowiak, and was able to crash the net to create a chance. He was one of the best defenders this game.

Honorable mentions: Tobias Möller, Christoph Eckl, and Wojciech Stachowiak

Just got back from the Eisbären vs Köln game. Köln won 3-1.

The game was pretty meh overall. So many sloppy passes, hard to watch at times.

Bindels scored twice. One was a really nice breakaway goal. His shot in general looks good and deadly.

Bokk started pretty rough. He didn't play bad, but just couldn't get anything going as everytime he was in a dangerous position, the passes to him were straight into his skates or otherwise misplayed.
In the 3rd period he played really well and showed some promising flashes. Finished the game with 1 assist.

Bokk has cooled of a little since his suspension. Any thoughts on Berlin forward Nino Kinder?

Bastian Eckl continues to play well, he had a goal and 2 assist today.

Yeah looks like it, at least stats wise. Hopefully he picks it up tomorrow.

I forgot to mention one pretty sick play though, where he showed shades of Draisaitl. Bokk was in the corner and had a beautiful no-look backhand pass to a wide open linemate in front of the net.

Any thoughts on Berlin forward Nino Kinder?
Honestly I have not heard of him before. There were no offensive standouts from the Eisbären. They barely created any chances at all.
Kinder´s stats look pretty intrigiung though...

I will keep an eye on him tomorrow. Just decided I will go again even though it is at 10am

Today Köln won 4-3 in overtime.

Bindels scored twice again. He has a damn good release, impressive.

Bokk had a quiet game again. Lost the puck a few times and was visibly frustrated. Very lazy penalty with 30 seconds to go in regulation time as well.
Though he had one excellent end to end rush where he showed his skating ability. Other than that, pretty disappointing.

Kinder opened my eyes. From what I noticed he had very limited ice time and pretty much only played soft minutes (powerplay and offensive zone starts). His stickhandling and passing looked really good though.
The coach gave him a 2 minute shift to start the overtime (powerplay).
We could have a player here, kid is just 15yo.

Reichel finished a minus 2 today, second goal for ravensburg he completely lost his man.
To be fair, playing for a team who's utterly **** and will probably fighting relegation 'til the last day doesn't make anyone look good. Especially not a 17 year old kid who's forced to play 3rd line minutes 'cause everyone else's injured..

I saw Germany U16 recently at Four Nations tournament. They won two of three games. Some pretty good players even though there was no true top prospect in my eyes. Manuel Alberg and Nino Kinder had some good moments in two games I saw and Alberg scored two goals against Switzerland. Kinder consistently seemed to work hard. On defense I liked Tommy Pasanen, a big, strong right-handed defenseman with some vision, made a nice pass to set up one goal from the point, and had a heavy shot. Not the best passer or puck handler but I think he's someone to watch for the future. Overall the team seemed to be physically mature and it showed against Switzerland who had a much smaller team.

Yeah those are the most talked about prospects from that age group. Did you see Schumacher play? He is another exciting prospect from that team.
