Post-Game Talk: Oilers Win Series in Gentlemen's sweep 4-2

Kempe -8

Conner Brown saving the game in the dying seconds around the crease, then blocking Doughty's shot and getting the EN. For all the flak he gets, he comes in big in moments like these.

On the other side of the ledger, Kempe pulled one hell of a disappearing act. -7 in the final 4 games
Man, the ups and downs with Brownie. Completely hated him reg season last year. Then completely realized the long game in the playoffs. To back to hating him again this reg season. Back to completely thanking God I'm not the GM this series. Unbelievable last few games from him. Huge reason we won.
He looks
Unkempe now
Thanks Gene, gotta add 'd there though.
Will has gone feral after this series
This one is a bit tough, think about the people who don't actually know Will Ferrell was a Kings fan. I think we gotta got with 'gone Ferrell' there to really hammer home the pun. But still, again solid work.
Pickard with an unreal game some of the saves he made in the third were ridiculous and unreal game by the refs. Only in this league can a play thats a penalty in the first for one team be completely acceptable in the third because the team doing it is down goals. Leons worst game of the playoffs in a long time the empty net the missed drop pass from walman that turned into a breakaway was bad but he'll probably turn around and be a beast next game to make up for it.
Oh man, how do you let that goalie blow up go? Like WTF? Even if he's out of the crease, you blow away a goalie like that behind the net while he's playing the puck it's absolutely a penalty.
This was by far the best series of round one. such a wild roller coaster, high scoring, run and gun, multiple games with goals coming seconds apart, big hits. This is a series I would show to non-hockey fans in order to convert them. Only way it could have gone better is if it had gone to game 7 3OT.
Shit I may be crossing streams here, but yes, this series was unreal. I'm glad my heart is able to take it.

BTW still on page 9 of the GDT. Unreal win lads! Drinkeyed up again on a work night, but worth it lol.

Was thinking about heading to Vegas for the first two games, then realized some of the content on my phone may not make the border security laugh like it does my buddies, and I'd rather not spend time in an El Salvador prison.

Meh. Wipe your phone before security.
Restore it while waiting for the flight.

If youre in this screenshot youre a f***ing dweeb
Come on lads, I was pretty down on the team after game 2. Been through the ringer with this team and it's honestly a coin flip which team will show up. To be honest, games 3 and 4 probably should have gone against us. I think I actually posted in the game 2 PGT about talking about firing management in the game 4 PGT. Live and learn, but each and every one of us has experienced this Jekyll and Hyde of this team before, it's easy to jump to conclusions. Especially after the coaching staff was so GD stubborn in the first two games. Anyway, don't lay it on the fellas in here man, especially after such a special win where we pulled it all out of the fire. It really doesn't come off well.
Nurse drives me nuts.
I thought Nurse played alright. Man can't hate 1 g 1 a. Sure there were times Where I was trying to pull out the little hair I have left, but honestly outside of Bouch he was our second best D. Bouch was a steady Eddy tonight it seemed. Walman though, just play like game 5.
Huge series for guys like Brown and Janmark. Love seeing our depth guys step up.

Pickard with an unbelievable game. He made so many timely stops, something Skinner could never do. He was our series MVP for me.
Again, I can't rave about how good Brown was. Good lord, I was hating on him during the play for just taking it in to the corner, then that pass. Jeez what a play.
I feel for both Kopitar and Doughty. I don't even think they're over the hill fully. Still good players imo. They're just too old to be playing ~22 and 27 minutes a night respectively. Especially matching up against McDrai. Doughty playing ~20 minutes a night on a teams 2nd pairing, or Kopitar at ~17-18 minutes as a 2nd line C. I'd gladly take either in that scenario. But as a teams best option...? They ain't it anymore.
Yeah I was saying to my buddy who is a Calgary fan but the last few seasons has been hopping on to the wagon with his buddy, like Doughty is still a good player, but at this stage in his career, the coach is ruining him playing him so much in a game. Be such a good second pairing guy on a real team. Prior to the series I was thinking Clarke could be that guy that pushes him down, but I haven't noticed him that much this series, unfortunately for Kings fans.
Oilers just like to play with their food for a while, like a cat with a mouse, till they get tired and just finally kill it.
I know. I always get caught up in this shit as well. Was talking to a friend before the playoffs started and he was like "I think we may be playing possum here" which I was in agreeance with. But man, I just think this team loves, not sure if loves, but only responds to everyone telling them they're done. It's kind of really odd. I mean, we're seeing now that team that was first in the league from November till the break. Sure I understand the injuries, but they could be better than what they were. Anyway, I'm glad with where they're at, and hoppefullly they keep reading the clippings about how Vegas will run them out of the rink, because they seem to play best in those situations. Sorry for ranting lads

I fully believe this would've been a sweep had Pickard started game one. And like I said in the Pickard thread, he might let in one bad goal with his style, but he'll stop everything else, especially the ones he shouldn't. Unbelievable that anyone was even talking about the other guy coming back at any point in this series. He's ahead of a lot of established starters in GSAx these playoffs.

And depth is what wins you Cups. Connor and Leon had two straight off games and the team still won. All of these passengers are now taking the driver's seat at the right time. I mean f***ing Podkolzin, a guy I just joked would've had 6 points, all secondary assists, all season, without Leon as his centre, has 4 points in 6 games... And even in the KHL he produced far better in the playoffs than the regular season.

Brownie, Rico, Frederic, Janmark, Klingberg...
Love how the guys we gave shit to during the regular season are stepping up at the right time

Literally everyone but Stu.

To say the Kings coach is getting roasted is an understatement. Like most. The challenge on the Kane goal AFTER using the timeout. I watched the LAK stream in the morning and they were questioning that decision.

Won’t go anywhere when your top guys won’t buy into two way play.

Also who could have guessed that Andrei Kuzmenko would be unable to prevent Kopitar and Kempe (the Tennessee line) from being caved for the 4th straight year. Along with Mikey Anderson who has probably been on the ice for like 60% of Oilers goals through all 4 matchups.
