One of the great character actors. Probably at his best when he played the antagonist like in Unforgiven or Crimson Tide.

Goddamn this one stings. Crazy that at 95 we’d lose him to something like this. RIP Gene.

My favorite Gene Hackman scene growing up...

Incredible career.

His career highlight might be as the heroic Hack-Man on South Park when he successfully dispatched the evil Christopher Reeve into outer space

Popeye Doyle: “You still picking your feet in Poughkeepsie?”

Little Bill Daggett: "That you here, Bob, on the cover? 'The Duck of Death?'"
W.W. Beauchamp: "Duke. It's the Duke. "'Duke of Death.'"

The guy lives to nearly 100 and gets taken out in this senseless way.

One of the true giants of film. Rest in peace, Gene and family.

Runaway Jury was interesting, the only film that Gene and Dustin Hoffman made together. Years before they made it big they were roommates (Robert Duvall stayed with them for awhile as well). There was a scene added to that film just so that they could share the screen.

Gene was in so many memorable films, one of my favorites was Scarecrow with Al Pacino.

Sad news to hear

He was even good in bad movies like Enemy of the State and Absolute Power.
I was going to say the exact same thing with Enemy of the State and The Chamber being the movies I thought of.

He's easily one of my favourite actors of all-time. Watched him in so many movies from the 80's and 90's growing up. I haven't seen all his roles but I've never seen him put in a bad performance. Always seemed like a great person too and was a guy who shied away from the spotlight.

RIP to a Hollywood Icon and RIP to his wife and dog as well.

RIP,

Didn't realize he was 91 though. Crimson Tide is the movie I most remember from him, I loathed his character really due to how well Gene portrayed him. Truly one of the greats.
No one else is likely going to agree with me here considering his tenture and accomplishments . But when I think of Gene, I immediately think of him playing the scrappy veteran coach in The Replacements

Deaths are now being ruled suspicious. No sign of any carbon monoxide leaks. This makes sense because 1 dog was found healthy and alive in the house? Maintenance workers hadn't seen them in 2 weeks.

Ah geez all of that sounds horrible. Don't know how no family or friends check on them in 2 weeks. Really sad.

Wonder based on these facts if wife had medical emergency and collapsed in bathroom, Hackman who looked frail when last seen in public months ago fell while trying check on her and the dog ate some of the pills that fell on floor
