Leafs had 4 years to trade Marner. And they had time to trade him when Treveling came on board before his NMC kicked in. Marner is NOT to blame for that mess. Marner will go finish his career somewhere else and be successful.

Leads should also not resign Tavares at all, unless he accepts something like 3M. Dude is coooooooked. What they should do is trade Mathews for a haul and start over/retool. You need balls to make the big trades that put you over the top. Look at Florida. They moved Huberdeau for Tkachuk and that move took major balls and it got them at least 1 cup. Might get them 2. Now that's what the Leafs need to do. Will they though? Probably not.

The Leafs don't have balls. They are a marketing organization first and a sports organization second. Having recognizable names sells merchandise and that's what they mostly care about. The team is unbalanced because of those big names? Ownership can't hear you over the sound of sweet money rolling in.

The Leafs are a really good team. They're solid. Issue is when Tampa was in their heyday they were better. The Bruins were better. And, now Florida is better. All 3 are in the same division as Leafs (and Habs).

I really don't know what Toronto does now to improve, but they'll definitely be tweaking it again albeit without Marner.

Loss to Montreal seem to break them.

As someone in law school, regardless of the admittance of this evidence, and the same with the Diddy case, and Andrew Tate case, cases that involve sexual assault with no physical evidence or very little tangible evidence is very hard to convict on. Its not as black and white as homicide. Sucks for the victims
