Laval Rocket: 2024-25 Laval Rocket Thread

That's what they said last time Rein lost days.

He took a shot on the knees when he was checked on the boards. Didn't see any issues with his skating afterwards although it's the first time i see Lindstrom (RHD) on a specialty team.

Also telling is that Vincent was using Rein on the first unit in PK/PP but now on the second unit. It could be the new toy syndrome...or knee problem concerns.

(Funny how some have penned Rein as Savards replacement based on his "top 5" pick. Yet Vincent is putting Mailman on the 1st units and sometimes running him for the entire 2 minutes on the PK. )

David Reinbacher injury history is starting to worry. He get injured a lot and is still only 20 years. Not a good sign for when he reach the NHL where he will have to play even harder.

Ya this kid better do something to settle my nervousness about him. This is really troubling that he’s constantly out or following “the plan”. Time to play a regular schedule.

I love how they throw out deflections of what's really apparent.

First time out...his knee wobbles trying to stand up...missed several games with "scheduled" rest .

Second time, he's favoring his knee going back for the puck...out for 3-4 games with "scheduled" rest.

Yesterday he got hit in the knees when taken into the boards and fell hard taking someone into the boards.

I don't want to start any rumours but watching him closely on slo-mo it's clear what is happening. It's also clear that the kid is trying to play his game despite his knees. THAT get's him a LOT of credibility in my eyes.

(BTW...I can't get TOI from AHL games so the next best way to see what the coach thinks about a players game is how he's used on the specialty teams. That's is why I reference that in my reports. M and Rein are the two best RHD and two best D's we have in the AHL so if one or the other is missing or how they are used tells us a lot of how they are viewed by the coach. When I saw Lindstrom out on a specialty team instead of Rein after a hit on him, concern antennas went up.)

I'm checking RDS and can't see the game for tomorrow...but see games for next week.

WTF? It's suppose to be at 3 on Sunday.

Are they carrying the game? Or has something changed?

Worst case scenario, the game is at least on RDS.ca
What do you mean? Online? I have a few places where I can see it streamed but I can't record or high resolution so that's not great for me.

I enjoy "scouting" a few players more then the game itself and for that I need to record it on high resolution (4k) and the ability to go through slow motion and replays.

Anywho...I'll see what happens tomorrow.

3rd playoff game. Cleveland and Laval

1st...Primeau in net, not fair to Fowler who had a shutout. LX, Davidson and M on the ice means ONE THING. Light hitting and we are outplaying them by large margin. R made a great stick check but also didn't take out his man and gave him a clear run at the net. M went on offense and covered, MASSIVE difference from 3 months ago when that meant RHD position was open. Lindstrom on 1st PK? M on 2nd PK. Vincent is using Lindstrom more and more but I'm not sure if it's to spread the load or more trust.

Cripes, I'm watching on a 43 monitor in SD...vs big screen in 4k...no replay, no slo-mo plus I picked up malware. Tablet is WAY SAFER to stream on these sites.

2nd...Lindstrom on first pair? R-Engstrom and M-Trudeau are much better pairs. Cleveland is playing better and hitting. M on 1st PP. R on 2nd. R pinched too deep and paid the price. 100% on R. 1st lead by Cleveland in series.

Bell Center looks full. There is nowhere the amount of hitting by Rockets like the first game.

3rd...M 1st PP, going deep. Engstrom with Lindstrom is the go-to offense? Rockets like hyenas on kill, NO GOAL. Breakaway R goes down on one knee but fails to stop pass 50% on R. 2-0 Cleveland. M with GREAT feint draws penalty. Player gets behind M and scores. 100% on M. OUCH. 3-0. M looking for a fight at the end of the game..

Engstrom with Lindstrom makes no sense for max offense. Hello VINCENT, Engstrom with M makes a lot more sense.

M and R had need to do better. Every mistake has outsized consequences. Kapanen best player on the ice. Primeau average, put Fowler back in.

The 4th line should be the 2nd line, how the f*** does Beck's play this series earn him a 4th line spot when RHP and Gignac haven't done much of anything in this series.

I don't get why they keep going with Trudeau Mailloux, the 2 dumbest D on the team, why would you put them together? Tough call on Engstrom Reinbacher as they have mostly been really good together but the last 2 games have gone from bad to worse. I honestly don't know what I would do there, as I can see why they would split them up or why you would keep them together as they have shown they can do well together but of course the sample size is small. Either way I think it's a tough decision.

Fowler over Primeau is what I would do, it doesn't matter that Primeau is the one that got you here, Fowler has just been too good to sit. I would have just gone with Fowler last game but I can understand wanting to get Primeau a game after sitting so long and you had a nice cushion going home with a 2-0 lead in a best of 5. But now you need to win as you don't want a game 5.
For those that follow the Rockets closely, on what aspects is Mailloux inferior to Reinbacher? Mailloux's a big strong guy that skates well...

IQ, skating, mobility, effort, defense, gap control. Mailloux's problems are he can be lazy and stupid, he will at times give up on plays which is inexcusable for a defensemen, other times he just does stuff that you go wtf was that? I like his offensive game though, he's got the shot but also the confidence to try things.

Owen Protz was decisive with Brantford Bulldogs. Every time, I was posting on 2024-25 Prospects Thread (CHL/NCAA/Euro) thread.

Another good D in the Rocket pipeline.

It shows they reall want to win the AHL Cup. With all the new players they got recently.

Was not expecting Protz to be brought in the middle of the playoffs, even on an ATO.

But I like it. Even if he won't see any action unless guys get hurt, it will be good to have him around the pro ranks to practice and pick up on how guys prepare.
