GDT: GDT #72 New York Islanders @ Tampa Bay Lightning | March 29th | 2 PM | F/5-3 L

And meanwhile their backup who has played 2 games in the past 2 months has made the first 9 saves as we outshoot them 9-3. Down 2-0.

That’s some great insight. Sorokin is an average (and lately below average) goaltender, who deserves the criticism he’s getting.
It’s not meant to be insightful, just an observation.

This is a mediocre team no matter who is in net, so the histrionics are amusing.

Amazes me the free pass this guy gets. He’s a problem. Constantly comes up lacking. Constantly outplayed. He’s been over hyped since he was drafted. I’ll be surprised if he does t give up 4 or 5 here again. He’s got to at least give them a chance…

No one disagree that this is team is mediocre, or even bad - but we can all see what is obvious; Sorokin is part of the mediocrity. But apparently any critique of him is histrionics.

The problem is constructing a roster where success is contingent on your goalie playing like a God. And then when your goalie isn’t a God, the game falls apart.

Pointing to shots on goal feels amateur-ish when all three goals were point blank opportunities.

Sorokin hasn’t been great, but that being the focal point for some posters is just strange.

Sorokin has not been great but neither has the play in front if him. Ilya definitely deserves criticism but so does the defens

Blown coverage on Kucherov and Point goals. Cant leave those guys that open I don’t care who the goalie is.

I’m more so singling out the poster (not you) who only logs on to whine about Sorokin and genuinely thinks he’s the main problem.

The third goal is unstoppable really. The other 2 he has a chance to make a play. 3 goals on 6 shots and the nights over. He’s got to be better. He’s being outplayed by Hogberg at this point whose a journey man. The second goal he drops a rebound right out on front of his net. You can’t do that. Its the NHL. Hasn’t been great? He hasn’t even been good. It’s a bad season for this guy…again…and he deserves everything he is getting. It’s to a point where they have to find something g else next season. He’s a 40 game goalie IMO. And when it’s on the line…he’s at his worst. These are supposed to be his prime years.

You are right. there are a lot of them who deserve to be called out. Horvat was pathetic on that 3rd goal. The leadership group clearly needs to change. They just fall flat in big moments. Isles should prob look for a new captain.

Giving up 3 goals on 13 shots is asking your goalie to be a God? While the other team's backup has stopped all 20. Please explain the logic behind that.

And none of the goals were 2 on 1s that required a side to side robbery or something. That first snap shot from the circle unscreened has to be stopped by an elite goalie. The second goal was because Sorokin did not hold the first shot and allowed the rebound to go right back out in the crease.
