Embarrassing ineptitude and total lack of awareness on every professional level.

I'll bet Lou thinks that by leaving Nelson/Palmieri in he's "fooling" other GMs into thinking that he might keep them.

What a joke. If anyone gets injured we should storm Lou's office tomorrow.

According to this logic, they should’ve been sitting out for the last month.

1000% correct, but Lou is GM and I have zero control over anything.

We're here today and it's never been more clear than this moment that this team isn't making the playoffs - Much less getting light years near a Cup.

Sitting Nelson/Palmieri protects the team (as does trading them). For Lou to not do that is a fireable offense - Even if they don't get injured tonight.

The Preds sat out Nyqvist. The Rangers say Reilly Smith. Neither are as close to as valuable as Nelson. Why did their GMs know how to protect their franchises?

The line to sit a player or not to protect them for trade purposes is definitely arbitrary but there is some line that needs to be drawn. I think there's some balancing act of the likelihood of a player getting injured for the remainder of the season vs the likelihood the team can make the playoffs. As the deadline gets closer the likelihood that even more minor injuries can knock a player out for the remainder of the year increases the need to take precaution against the injury. If the team is far enough out from the playoff picture then it means the player should be moved sooner rather than later. The opposite is true if the team is in the playoff hunt.

Where each GM draws that line is up to them but there's really no rationale for having any of our potential trade pieces playing tonight if it can be helped (roster limitations and what have you). Certainly the most valuable pieces should be protected at this point. It's absurd that they aren't.

After we lose tonight and we will lose tonight and most likely make some deals at the TDL. Do you think maybe, just maybe Roy gives Sorokin a few games off?? The guy had back surgery and has played 46 fo 61 games....jesus.....
