They aren’t - the decision to waive Engvall makes zero sense

Terrible D zone coverage
Then play him the next day? Some mind blowing decisions going on…

Feels like we put a lot into Dobson and it isn’t panning out. That was a pee wee level play he made on that goal.

Still don’t get how Cizikas, MacLean, or Martin are better than Engvall.
The bottom 6 is a train wreck. They need to turn them all over.

Engvall makes the most, waiving him gets most cap relief. At least Martin and Casey have even some leadership qualities. They probably thought duclair was ready today, but guess not, so that’s probably why Charmin is back in the lineup

Paying people for leadership skills is the exact reason why we are here. Matt Martin shouldn’t be anywhere near an NHL ice surface. Shouldn’t have been for years. But “leadership skills” so we sign him. It is just an excuse to sign bad hockey players.

If you want to waive Engvall then go for it. I don’t really care for the player. But I wouldn’t expect great efforts out of him with how they are treating him. On a side note Lee Pageau Engvall was good in the playoffs. Haven’t seen it yet this year…have got very little production from the bottom 6 as well…

Martin and Casey offer absolutely nothing at this stage - the choice of them over Engvall is blind loyalty, nothing more; maybe a bit more cap relief, but not much

Don’t get me wrong, Martin is useless and should have never been signed IMO. Engvall waived is just a business decision first and foremost, gets most cap relief. Martin makes 1/3 of what Engvall makes, so waiving Martin is almost useless, just like him. Second, and waaay second, is Martin and Casey provide slightly more ‘intangibles’.
