I hope the Flames didn't give up on the year after missing the playoffs.
I've had this worry about this game for a while now. Tough for a team to get up first game after elimination, but I suppose having Darryl Sutter behind their bench could help.
The issue for the Sharks in trying to get the most ping pong balls this year is that while bad, they have a group that hasn't been injured to the level of the Blue Jackets, nor are they as bad in the disillusioned, poor-mentality way of the Hawks and Ducks.
I would argue in a way that this is for the best, because when the culture of a team gets poisoned deep in the well like it has for those two franchises, it can be harder/slower to change the prevailing mindset. The problem is that this year is one of those special ones where nothing else really matters as much as just getting that #1 pick, so to hell with culture and self-respect. But the Sharks just haven't sunk to those depths yet.
