How are we not taking about this already?

There is a growing chance here that Demi starts against the Leafs. He’s in TO. He’s had enough time to get over the jet lag. He’s battle tested from tbe KhL playoffs, and he needs some time to get used to his teammates and the NHL system.

No need to wait till Monday especially since they won’t be practising before that.

Demidov, Saturday Night Hockey vs Leafs, LFG!

MSL already confirmed he's not playing tomorrow.

Dobes is in net. That should be interesting.

Pezzetta should come out for Heineman.
Savard sits on a back-to-back for Xhekaj.

Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Laine - Newhook - Heineman
Anderson - Dvorak - Gallagher
Kapanen - Evans - Armia

Guhle - Carrier
Struble - Hutson
Xhekaj - Matheson

We'll know where things are at by game time tomorrow.

NYI @ Phil, Caps @ CBJ, NYR @ Canes will all be over by 7 PM.

We could clinch with one point, but as of right now, we can clinch with a regulation win.

We need a better start - simple as that. Play hard, play desperate, and play smart.

Go Habs Go!!

It would have been ridiculous for Demidov to play tomorrow. No practice time, not even have the chance to meet with his teammates. No clue why pundits were expecting it.

Heck, I’m not even sure he will play against Chicago. The kid isn’t coming from another NHL team; he’s coming from a league of inferior caliber. He NEVER faced an NHL team and you want to throw him in against a powerhouse like Toronto and not have favourable matchups?

How long did it take for Kapanen to play? Demidov was in the playoffs last week, he doesn't need to practice. He's ready to go.

What is he gonna practice? Have you seen this guy play?
It’s about getting used to the team AND the league. He will need at least one practice with the boys first. Kid’s got no clue whatsoever about the caliber, the defensive responsibilities and the systems. This is not pre-season; it’s crunch time.

If they practice on Sunday, then fine. But if they don’t that is why Hughes said it might be only one game.

Leafs are not a tough team which is what matters.

They lead the division for a reason. Putting Demidov, say, against the Nylander line…this can turn pretty quickly in a horror show in the D-zone. Kid’s got no clue about defensive coverage with this squad. Heck, he probably will meet his teammates for the first time tomorrow morning at breakfast!

Swapping him with Pezzetta would increase our chance of winning.

And he can win you the game on the other side. If MSL could manage his bench on the level of an actual NHL coach, maybe this wouldnt be such an issue.
