Bruins' David Pastrnak Ties Boston Legend With Amazing Stat

IMG_7817.jpeg

David Pastrnak has been the Boston Bruins' top player by a country mile all season. He has still been an offensive force even with limited help around him, and he has now made some Bruins history in the process.

During the Bruins' April 5 matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes, Pastrnak hit the 90-point mark for the fourth time in his NHL career. With this, he has tied legend Ray Bourque for the fourth most 90-point seasons in Bruins history.

The only Bruins now with more 90-point campaigns than Pastrnak are Phil Esposito (seven), Bobby Orr (six), and Rick Middleton (five). When noting that Pastrnak is only 28 years and under contract until the end of the 2030-31 season, he has plenty of time to catch up to these Bruins legends.

Pastrnak has been nothing but spectacular since joining the Bruins, and tying a Hall of Famer like Bourque in nine-point seasons only demonstrates this further.

At the time of this writing, Pastrnak has a goal and two assists in the club's matchup against the Hurricanes. With this, he now has 38 goals, 54 assists, and 92 points in 76 games this campaign. It has been another excellent season for Pastrnak, even with how poorly the Bruins' year has gone.

It will now be intriguing to see what Pastrnak's stats look like at the end of the season. Following their matchup against the Hurricanes, the Bruins will have six games remaining. If Pastrnak stays hot, perhaps he could even flirt with hitting the 100-point mark for the third straight season.

David Pastrnak’s hat trick helps Bruins snap 10-game skid

BOSTON — The Bruins’ losing streak is no more.

Boston got arguably its best game from the Morgan Geekie-Elias Lindholm-David Pastrnak line as the trio combined for 11 points — including a hat trick from Pastrnak — in the Bruins’ 5-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night.

It’s Boston’s first win since March 11. Despite the victory, Montreal’s win over Philadelphia eliminated the Bruins from the playoffs.

The first period didn’t feature much action until the final 90 seconds. Geekie scored the game’s first goal and his 28th of the season to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead when he snapped a shot by Frederik Andersen on a nice Pastrnak feed.

Lindholm doubled the Bruins’ lead 58 seconds later on Pastrnak’s second assist of the game to give Boston a 2-0 advantage going into first intermission.

After assisting on the first two goals Pastrnak scored one of his own to make it a 3-0 game with a shot from the goal line.

The Hurricanes had ample chances to get on the board, but Swayman was strong between the pipes and stopped the 14 shots he faced in the second period to keep the game scoreless.

Pastrnak added his second goal of the game 1:28 into the third period to give the Bruins a 4-0 lead when he batted Geekie’s pass out of mid-air and into the net.

With 4:42 left in the game Pastrnak notched his third goal of the game and watched fans litter the TD Garden ice with hats. It marked Pastrnak’s 40th goals of the season and his 19th career hat trick.

The Hurricanes got their first and only goal with 54.2 seconds left in the game from Justin Robidas.

Swayman, who was 0-7-0 in his last seven starts coming into Saturday, made 39 saves in the win.

I feel like Lysell just needs to feel comfortable and his game will come. He's obviously got the wheels. He's always looking to transition to offense and push the play, he just lacks confidence. I'm actually feeling okay about him even though he looked kinda shitty at some points tonight.

I thought Minton looked the part too. Crazy he's only 20. He seems to have a high hockey IQ.
