Wow Habs 24 goals in 5 games (Toffoli 5g, Anderson 3g) and in first place while playing all their games on the road. Next 5 games are huge for the Leafs.

This is a huge game early in schedule for the Leafs, where splitting a series keeps the standings close, and losing both of what is referred to as 4 point divisional game starts putting daylight between teams.

It's no bigger than any other game this season.

If Matthews does end up out, I can't believe Keefe wouldn't go with Hyman -Tavares - Marner. This line has had almost an entire season together with huge success. My best guess from the lines above is Matthews is good to go tonight otherwise the lines would definitely look a lot different.

beat me by 1 second

if Matthews is ever out, i think i would much rather prefer to have Nylander as our 2nd line center.

Hyman-Tavares-Marner
Soup-Nylander-Simmonds

Agree but with Soup-Nylander-Simmonds as our 2nd line, how bad are our 3rd and 4th lines? Maybe Matty being out of the lineup will wake up Shanny into seeing how thin we are up front.

Theyd be bad lol. The best you could hope for is they hold their own defensively and the Tavares line goes off like they did 2 years ago.

*if Matthews is out at this time, we would be missing Matthews, Robertson and Thornton. that would test the depth of any team.

How has Bogosian, Simmonds, and Vesey looked for y'all? I don't like seeing Bogo paired up with your young and upcoming d-man in Sandin. Bogo was god awful here in Buffalo, and has the defensive IQ of a mule, but perhaps a system change and getting away from the tire fire that is the Buffalo Sabres helped?

Also, Vesey on the first line is a head scratcher. The dude is softer than baby poop and would kill any possession time when he played for the Sabres. We tried him with Eichel, and he had a negative impact on that line. Once again, though, a change of scenery from a toilet bowl team to a playoff contender may help.

Finally, I like Simmonds. I thought he still had a bit left in the tank and would be a solid 4th liner, but I'll admit- he's slowing down and I wasn't mad to see him go. Actually, I was fine with it, but I do miss his toughness.

I just want to say- I am not trying to troll. I'm only providing honest questions and input from what I've seen these players do on the Sabres. Just to prove I'm not trolling- The Sabres are a trash team. Absolute trash, and I think the Leafs are solid enough to compete in the playoffs. Not a contender yet, but the potential is there- for sure- just have to prove it.

Good luck, y'all. I used to hate your team's guts. Now I could give two-craps about hockey. Thanks Botterill! Also, Go Bills!

Would be nice if that were true and we peaked heading into the playoffs. An advantage I see is that we have room to add an impact forward at the TDL. Them not so much unless it is a top forward like PLD.
ya who really knows with this leaf team.
only thing we do know is, which version will show up on any given night lol

It seems pretty obvious eh, Keefe must think matthews is good for tonight

He's the only one on the team that plays every shift like he gives a shit. I've been thoroughly impressed with his hustle and commitment on the forecheck this season.

I've liked Vesey's game, he seems to be putting in consistent effort and is playing his role well.

Bogo has been pretty meh, I don't love him but he's bringing some physicality and has a nice shot from the point which is nice.

Simmonds is pretty well out of gas at this point, but like Bogo, plays his role and it seems the boys are playing with a bit more of an edge this year which is nice.
