Look at Strome on the PP right there. He's got the puck entering the zone but instead of carrying deep when there is pressure he just stops at the half wall to try the setup anyway. It's system and the mentality to keep playing a certain way, even when that way doesn't work

Surely some responsibility falls on the coach’s shoulders. I get that. I just think - if we’re assigning blame for these poor performances against tight checking teams - it’s so much more on the players and management. Just my opinion.

The problem I see is just, we have seen how DQ wants the team to play. That isn’t even remotely the solution either.

Clearly, our issue is that we must improve a lot all over the board as a team. We are way way way behind teams like Chicago and Tampa in their prime. Still the focus is almost entirely put on “not” doing X, Y and Z. We must do X, Y and Z — and a lot better than we are — and a whole bunch of other letters too that we aren’t.

These players aren’t on the same page, it’s a mess, and we are not improving at all as a team. We were much better last season against the better teams, we are taking big steps in the wrong direction and anyone expecting that to change next season will — I am afraid — be disappointed.

In addition, we can start to change personnel and send out skill and bring in size and toughness — it should be done — but it’s even more tragicomical to think that will change things if everything else stays the same.
