If Quinn is kept by management despite being sold as a developmental coach and the team tanks and sucks next year and fail to make the playoffs both next year and the year after, that's it for Gorton.

The one thing that bothers me with panarin is if he gets the puck behind the red line he won't skate it, he usually turns back and looks for a pass, if you are gonna be that predictable teams are gonna catch on.

They have to work for every inch of ice vs the Isles and they refuse to do it. This is the same ghost act they pulled vs the Canes because they didn't want to work.

Every and I mean every islander forward is backchecking and hounding the puck carrier. Isles get the puck and no one is within feet of the puck carrier.
This is what I expect Quinn to say post game.

So what? The Red Wings played the Lightning today. The Lightning are simply the (far) better team, Detroit didn't look like a bunch of dickless little babies getting their heads stomped in and doing nothing about it.
What do you want? The vets don't like getting dirty. The kids haven't caught up. Is Goat being dickess? He's hustling. How about that Laf gorgeous pass to Buch who had 2 great chances? Convert, and it's a different game.

What does fighting have to do with heart?
Sticking up for yourself, changing momentum., fights help change momentum and show that they have heart and actually care. Being passive like Mika did when he got elbowed, would rather let someone elbow him than do something about it, not sticking up for yourself when a missed call on a dirty play. Regardless if he is a fighter or not, being passive and letting the opponent take advantage shows that you don’t care. Passive = not having heart - not caring..

Are you saying Panarin has no heart? Are you having a nervous breakdown right now? It's ok, the seasons over, we'll be much better next year.
Hmmmm.....I remember my first beer too. Don’t worry...before you know it, you will be able to finish it. Just sip slowwwwwly....

he had one plus. play like a wrecking ball, which he did when he first got here.

That was 'coached' out of his game. So, now he was just useless.

We been through this. Fringe 4th liner, that didn't really help with the abuse opponents gave us.

We can expect Cuylle made an impression. Sold as high as we could.

We will get tougher with time.

so, they are not buying in? or gave up? Sounds like the coach has lost the room or the room cant give 2 shits.

We owned the Islanders in 2019.

They are not serious about making the playoffs next season because the team they will ice will not be a playoff team. Team may actually be worse in the beginning then they were this year. Seriously, patience, 2022-2023 they will be a playoff team, then solid playoff team for years after. If not, then we are screwed into oblivion.

not a playoff team maybe, but you still need to get playoff experience to progress, develop and become a playoff team/Cup contender.

They don't grow on trees but this team needs a ROR type. Maybe Laf turns into that kind of a leader?
We have plenty of skill.

I think these games against the Islanders show exactly why the Rangers are going to be looking to trade straight-up skill for more balance.

And I say that with the caveat that the moves might not necessarily look amazing on paper --- especially in the offensive stats category.

If they don't make the playoffs AFTER next year...then abject failure and we will be creeping into Sabre territory. Dark ages turbo'd

He wasn't a fringer 4th liner in 2019. He showed promise and brought energy.

I said this last game. He's facing the other way when he gets to puck to shield it with his body and that's when he likes to get the lay of the land to either make that quick headman or start the rush. Except he's getting double teamed immediately and he's trying to get going from a standstill and the Isles have already reestablished their neutral zone structure

This is a problem that normally gets players benched. Understand it’s a little different for bread, but wondering if he used to curl back like this in Columbus with Torts as his coach.

Him not cross checking him back immediately sums up my concerns for giving him any significant term/money. He doesn't stick up for his team and he can't even stick up for himself.
Need more skilled guys with grit that battle not talking about fighting. Talking about not being taken advantage of. Mika is soft. He is a great player but not a player built for the playoffs. Too soft and passive... pathetic leadership

I agree and barring disaster we should be comfortably in the playoffs in 2023.

Next years draft is so enticing that I wouldn't mind another lottery ticket ...

To be fair in this game we are missing Trouba and Lindgren, our two physical dmen and Kreider who even though he hasn't been scoring is still a big bodied winger we could use tonight. Thats a lot of weight out of the lineup.
