I once worked with a teacher who showed the movie version of literally everything they were supposed to read. His classroom was referred to as the Cineplex. Those kids didn't have a problem with him either. They also didn't learn shit.
Strome even said in an interview in early April that he knows the coach wants them to shoot more, but that "you can't micromanage your top guys" or something to that effect. They can like him. They can be buddies with him. But if he keeps telling them to do something and they just don't do it (with no repercussions in terms of play time, line makeup, benchings, etc), then it's at least a possibility that they don't respect him as an authority figure in the room.
