Quinn is just simply out of his league. It’s as simple is that. How can people argue that he doesn’t get outcoached?

And I think some of that is a team in transition that doesn’t have a true identity yet.

We’re in weird zone where you can see glimpses of the potential, and you can easily see the improvements needed.

We need to win another lottery, because Beniers is the perfect player that this team needs.

Don't need another flashy high scoring guy. We will have that.

We need our Bergeron/Cirelli.

whoever said this shit is an indictment on the coaching staff needs to realize professional players getting paid hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars who have also played this team repeatedly this season alone can't be getting f***ing Alzheimer's and being all doe-eyed "golly gosh I guess we have to go to some scary areas of the ice and maybe apply our bodies to their bodies with some speed and momentum".

I'm pretty sure the coaching staff did not lead them astray in the scouting report here, the Rangers are well aware, they're just not gonna sack up enough to combat it because that's not who they are. Sorrynotsorry.

It's an easy out to blame the coach, who has publicly called east-west hockey "a flu on the team." The greatest coach in the world can come in preaching structure and fail with this bunch. And honestly, it's because of Panarin. Yeah, he's great, no denying that, but no coach is going to tell a 12M/yr superstar to play a style that's not his. Then the rest of the team becomes enamored playing that way too. Then, you've got Zibanejad and Kreider, who are never going to win awards for grinding.

Not really. Compare his % to other top line centers in the league. About 1/3 of their production comes on the PP.
It's not just about production either. The Rangers just don't carry play consistently when he's on the ice.

Oh but make sure to play Howden more Quinn

That is still on the coach. If he can't get the team to realize that they can't all be like Panarin and Strome, then the coach is a piss poor leader and communicator.

Yes, kind of. Their play and coaching too. Rangers don't play hockey that gets teams into the playoffs. Easily outcoached too.

Yes

I don't buy into those stats. I pick and choose which stats I buy into. It is also possible, if they truly were the 13th best team, which I disagree with, that they still aren't good enough to get in past the Eastern teams this year.

You pick and choose based on what you are trying to validate while rejecting reality.

that’s fine but it’s a little futile.

i don’t disagree that we’re not passing the eye test on a lot of occasions and agree the coaching staff sucks.

we need to retool our bottom 6 at least our 4th line for sure. But to say these teams don’t make the playoffs is borderline ludacris. Teams like this make the playoffs all the time and get stomped. I’d much rather that than finishing 2 points out. Anytime the kids can get some playoff games will only help us in 5 years.

Panarin is always facing back when he receives the headman pass so he can either make a quick lateral snap pass or curl and start up ice. Not gonna work against the Isles.

Yeah, its an area of Panarin's game that is suspect. He really has a hard time adjusting to defensive lane clogging teams. He continues to force lateral passes which aren't there.

He needs to be able to play a straight ahead style when needed. Otherwise, he is never going to be asset in the playoffs.
