Face-offs do matter, 4th line won the first of this period, had like 10 seconds in the Islander zone, then 50 seconds in their own zone. Without winning that face-off they would have spent 60 seconds in their own zone.

Not going to state that Lemieux and DeAngelo would be a boon for the winning prospects of any game against the Islanders but Lemieux and DeAngelo would be a boon for the winning prospects of any game against the Islanders. At least Lemieux goes hard on the forecheck and DeAngelo has the X factor and balls.
You mean having balls means something? Wow I thought we could get by on our talent

When I watch this team forecheck all I can think of is watching those youth (5-8) soccer games where everyone is just chasing the puck with zero structure at all. This is why our defense is always backing up wel into their size because almost every breakout is clean.

Anyone have some High dose caffeine supplements they can recommend

Panarin is always facing back when he receives the headman pass so he can either make a quick lateral snap pass or curl and start up ice. Not gonna work against the Isles.

At the very least they could crush Barzal, who puts himself in bad positions constantly but has brainwashed the league into thinking he's Gretzky and can't be touched or something.

The anti-Hajek.

you've been shitting on Igor since he entered the league. At least be honest, you've been done with him for over a year now

Not true. I was against the hype train which was premature when he entered the league. But now, yeah done with him. Mental midget incapable of holding the fort down.

This is Pathetic
This is Embarrassing
This is Laughable

This effort.... FIRE THIS f***ING COACH. FIRE HIM. THIS IS AN INDICTMENT OF WHAT YOU HAVE WITH THIS CLOWN f*** COACH

Assholes don't win hockey games, no matter what the 70s or 80s wanted to fans to think. This team is just getting straight outworked by a more prepared Islanders group. With Lemieux and/or DeAngelo in the lineup, we'd still be losing.

No its not, this game is not coaching problem. Its a young inexperienced blueline against forechecking veteran forwards.

They aren't developed enough to assert themselves physically.

Then you have our forwards who aren't a bunch of strong forecheckers against big mobile Islander blueline.

Its just a terrible matchup for a developing team.

While this is true it ignores the complete lack of effort in display tonight. Like totally awful by every possible metric.

Panarin invisible for yet another huge game.

Not saying he's not the player we know he is but nobody should care if you lead the league in scoring but disappear in the games that matter.

Then I think this is a problem with roster make up and coaching strategy that both need to be addressed. The teams that win can beat any team in the league on any given day. Otherwise every team can just play the same style against us and win.

And I think some of that is a team in transition that doesn’t have a true identity yet.

We’re in weird zone where you can see glimpses of the potential, and you can easily see the improvements needed.

You’re basing it off hypotheticals and dated statistics.

Yes, kind of. Their play and coaching too. Rangers don't play hockey that gets teams into the playoffs. Easily outcoached too.

The rangers could be in worse shape or other teams might be worse off.

Yes

Right now they are the 13th best team in the NHL.

I don't buy into those stats. I pick and choose which stats I buy into. It is also possible, if they truly were the 13th best team, which I disagree with, that they still aren't good enough to get in past the Eastern teams this year.

Our goalie has had a .920 season, that’s not the problem.

A team with this much skill should not be on the outside of the playoffs. Panarin turns 30 next season. Tick tock
