Glade I stuck with it.... Wanted to turn it off and walk away on a number of occasions. They got thoroughly outplayed. Like, they did not look like they belonged on the same ice surface for much of this game.

I would like to see changes. Outside of seeing Beecher a couple of times (probably for faceoffs), I think the 4th line was benched for much of the 2nd half? Providing zero value offensively, defensively, or physically. Black holes.

Why keep going to the same well all the time? There's nothing there. Same with the PP units. Move on! Have to think there is some new blood coming at some point.... Right? With this organization it's probably going to be more Patrick Brown and Mark McLaughlin.

Tampa got a point losing to the Devils to take 3rd back. At least the Habs lost in OT, sucks that they crawled back into the picture.

I would put Coyle back at 3C and just hope he plays better. The Lindholm line was trapped in their own end a lot . They need a boost of speed . Bring up Lysell and move Coyle back down . Marchand is always noticeable even when he plays bad but Lindholm is never noticeable.

We’ve been waiting for quite awhile for Swayman to steal a game for us. This was it. He’s been improving gradually of late, but this felt like a really significant step forward in form. Great effort, and hopefully a sign of things to come.

Obviously the Bruins were well and truly outplayed in the first 40. That wasn’t great, but what they did do which they haven’t much of late is they hung tough on D – it wasn’t pretty but it was just barely effective – and they took their (rare) opportunities at the other end. Pasta and Wahlstrom’s goals in particular were rewards for effort and plays where they stuck with it and out-battled the Panthers.

The 3rd was a bit more even. Had multiple chances to put the game away, which of course they reverted to form and wasted. But as much as giving away another late equalizer was frustrating, it was a pretty unlucky goal to concede. Got that luck back with the game-winner in OT, so I guess it evened out in the end. Still very apparent that the Panthers are the better team, but the Bruins deserve credit for sticking around and toughing it out. Held their own physically for once too.

Just turning to Florida for a moment, Reinhart is an amazing player. He’s not badly paid by any means, but his contract is still a very good deal for his team. Same goes for Bennett, Verhaeghe (until next year) and Forsling. Even Barkov with his $10m could easily command more these days. There are many reasons for their success, but excellent contract management is right up there.

For the Bruins, back home for another crack at Tampa. Let’s see if this win has sparked anything in them they can build upon.
