Why is Gardiner shooting the puck right into the goalies chest. When there isn't a screen in front of the net the shot should be along the ice because there is likely to be a rebound this way and people wonder why Gardiner get's benched, he can't play defence and has lost his offensive touch.

Just a wild guess here, but I think maybe Gardiner was actually trying to score, not put it into the goalie's chest

Some posters here were trying to tell me, he has been playing great with Kessel and JVR. Not by any metric including old fashioned goals and plus minus. He's not a #1C yet, Bozak with Kessel and JVR line > Kadri, JVR and Kessel. #1 line has been nonexistent since Bozak was hurt.

What's sad is Florida is playing awful hockey too. It's like the Leafs hit an force field that has nothing to do with the Panthers players and play comes back their way.

They've won 4 straight and 6 of last 7 now actually. Strictly boring, defensive hockey is helping them. Their defensive structure is much improved.
