Laval on a 3-game win streak. They also won 6 of their last 8. In those 8 games, they scored a total of 38 goals for and allowing 23 against for a +15 goal differential.
They're now tied with Syracuse at 30 pts, but the Crunch have 4 games in hand, and thus hold onto the 4th spot of the Division. However, from where Laval was (last in the division) just several days ago, it's great to see them move up.
I remember reading somewhere that Laval's underlying numbers did not reflect their record. And that they should have been winning more than losing rather than the opposite that was happening. It could be that those underlying numbers started to prove themselves right eventually.
Some players are on a real good run recently:
- RHP has 16 pts in his last 14 GP. He's now on pace for 52 pts (32G, 20A) in 72 GP
- Ylonen has 19 pts in his las 20 GP. He's now on pace for 61 pts (18G, 43A) in 72 GP
- Simoneau has 16 pts in his last 17 GP. He's now on pace for 51 pts (11G. 40A) in 64 GP
- Beaudin has 13 pts in his last 12 GP. He's now on pace for 45 pts (6G, 39A) in 58 GP
- Abbandonato has 16 pts in his last 17 GP. He's now on pace for 56 pts (18G, 38A) in 66 GP
- Pitlick has 15 pts in 13 GP so far with Laval. But since being sent back down in December, he has 9 pts in 4 GP. He's on pace for 61 pts (12G, 49A) in 53 GP.
- Teasdale's picked it up lately, as well. He has 8 pts in his last 11 GP. He's now on pace for 27 pts (15G, 12A) in 60 GP. Hopefully he continues to produce more regularly so his production goes up. Good depth player for the Rocket.
- Condotta has 7 pts in his last 13 GP. He's on pace for 25 pts (18G, 7A). Another real good depth player. Anytime you have a depth player on pace to score you about 15 goals, it's a big bonus.
Not bad having 5 players on pace for 50+ points, with 2 of them on pace for 60+. And having a defenseman on pace for close to 50 pts. Before being called up, Barron was also on pace for a 40+ point season. So having 5 forwards with 50+ pts and 2 defensemen with 40+ pts is real good.
For the many who say if Slaf is sent down to Laval, he'll have no one to play with, let the above show you that it will be quite the opposite. I said this in the Slaf thread, but Laval has one of the best PPs in the league. So he will play on a PP that is working. And after last night, Laval has the 5th most GF in the AHL. So he will be playing with players that produce while playing big minutes.
