Saw this on Reddit.

seeing this shot by itself makes MacK's goal that bit more crazy.

That's not really true.

His Corsi isn't great but it's better then his Offensive zone start %. It's hard to have a good Corsi when you start 60% of your shifts in the Defensive zone.

His E+/- is at a -5 but considering the defensive zone shifts he gets that's pretty solid as well. He doesn't get much offensive opportunity and handles the Defensive assignments reasonably well. He shouldn't be in the Top 4 for us but as a bottom pairing and PK guy he's easily a better option then anything else we have.
Nemeth starts closer to 50% of his shifts in the offensive zone, so it really doesn't make the CF% look any better. Z and to a lesser extent Barberio are put in much tougher spots and their numbers are quite significantly better. He definitely doesn't start 60% of his shifts in the d zone.

I'm not a huge Nemeth fan but it's whatever. We all know he's getting hurt soon anyway.

Well no not exactly 60% but very close, 58.5%.

I guess I'll provide a source since I'm sure it will still be disputed...

Unless I'm looking at the wrong numbers, that says All Situations, which isn't really where you want to look since special teams are going to always start in certain zones. Never used that site for advanced stats so usually stick to Natural stat trick or Corsica.

You can compare him 5 on 5 to every other defenseman on the team here. Keep in mind zone start percentage doesn't include Neutral zone faceoffs, but he's started 59 shifts in the offensive zone and 69 in the defensive zone, so not a huge difference. For comparison, Z has started 74 in the offensive zone and 134 in the defensive zone, and Barberio is at 82 in the offensive zone and 130 in the defensive zone. Nemeth isn't getting super tough minutes at the moment. Since he plays with Barrie, he gets a decent amount of o zone starts.

Finally watched this one. As always the captain leads the way. Ends with three goals and five points but easily could have had four or five goals and seven points.

That’s got to be the fifth or sixth game this season where the team is absolutely in the trash in terms of how they’re playing, and Landy is the guy that plays head and shoulders above everyone else to lead this young team.

His performances in these games don’t just help them in these games alone, it helps him be a leader in every other game as well. He can stand up in that room and tell everyone they need to get their shit in gear, and he’ll get a ton of respect from everyone, because they know he’s pulling his weight.

Yet no one will publicly know this. They’ll just come out to start a period and look like a completely different team because their captain has spoken in the intermission, and they listened.
