I think you guys are being a bit harsh on Toffoli. He's sneaky good at puck battles and he's not awful defensively. He's not a line driver but he is on a nearly 30 goal pace and has managed to look solid on the first, second, and third line.

What he is not, is Rantanen or Ovechkin or Kaprizov or Pastrnak. He's a $6mm player.

Totally agree. I mean, how many goals has Toffoli scored in the 3rd period to tie the game? He's been pretty clutch. He's also heralded as being a really good guy in the group. He's a wily vet that scores a bunch of goals and it's honestly been nice to have a pure sniper, we really haven't had one of those in a while.

He looked great with Wennberg. I'd like to see him with Smith at some point too. I kinda wonder if Kovalenko - Smith - Toffoli might be a fun line... once Kovalenko gets up to speed. Just spitballing.

But yeah, I like Toffoli quite a bit. Not every player can be everything all the time.

He had a real solid start out the gates, but he's been sort of mediocre at best since then (12 points in his last 25 games).

Hasn't he scored in overtime too? I feel like he's had a number of clutch goals. I think he's a very useable offensive player who is good at scoring. We need those.
