WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Mark Scheifele scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a convincing 8-1 victory over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night.

Nikita Chibrikov, Mason Appleton, Alex Iafallo, Gabriel Vilardi, Kyle Connor and Vladislav Namestnikov scored the other Winnipeg goals.

Scheifele now has a 13-game point streak at home, totaling 20 points in that stretch.

David Pastrnak replied for the Bruins, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves for Winnipeg. Jeremy Swayman stopped 27 shots for Boston.

Scheifele scored his second goal of the game, one-timing a perfect setup from Josh Morrissey on a second-period power play, increasing the Winnipeg lead to 3-0.

Namestnikov opened the scoring in the first period with Boston defenseman Brandon Carlo off for four minutes after clipping Kyle Connor with a high stick. With an assist on the goal, Neal Pionk reached the 200-point mark since joining the Jets in a trade with the New York Rangers.

Takeaways
Bruins: Boston was on their heels after the Jets scored on the power play in the first period, but came to life in the second, scoring their first goal and missing a number of chances. Then they fell apart in the third.

Jets: Winnipeg seemed sparked by the energy displayed by call-up Chibrikov. He drew an early penalty, started the play that led to Winnipeg’s first goal, then assisted on Iafallo’s power-play goal. Then, Scheifele took over, converting two great passes, and dominating play whenever he was on the ice.

Key moment
Connor scored on a setup from Scheifele 1:15 into the third period giving Winnipeg a 4-1 lead and deflating the Bruins.

Key stat
The Jets scored three power-play goals.

Up next
The Bruins visit the Seattle Kraken on Thursday. The Jets host the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday.

He’s also exemplifying the exact fan that Delaware North hopes most Bruins fans to be: starry-eyed optimists that can not, or refuse to, face the objective realities of the team and wish/hope/pray for a miracle, all the while plopping down their hard-earned money to spend on the team. Or, the other kind of fan who just goes to the game for the fun of it once in a while but doesn’t really know much or care much about the team.

I have little use for either.
God forbid people root for good things to happen for their team.

Looks like the new coach surge has run its course/

Back to reminding all that you can’t win at the nhl level with 1 top 6 forward and a sieve in net.

#fire sweeney
Don't you see Pasta top 6 forward anymore then?
Not upset, but he’s KO’d two guys who have never fought. He also fought Larson who doesn’t fight.
Well he sure tried though?

Sway pulled Montgomery... ...he quit the team. With that attitude, hopefully he doesn't wear Bruins uniform never again.

No, I don't wanna compare Pasta to Swayman. That seems to be what you want to do.

As for slumps, the best players in the game don't have 30 game slumps. At least they shouldn't.
bullshit. I never mentioned pasta.
I replied to the post where pastas poor start and high pay was compared to Swaymans.

try reading slower.

Pasta before his big contract had proven his worth, Swayman just gave us a small sample and management fell for it, sorry Swayman sold himself and good for him, blame management. Swayman got what his whinny ass wanted, now he will have to live with criticism, and he has not heard it really loud yet, but it is coming.
exactly. Swayman was great in the negotiating room.
Followed up by sucking ass innthe blue paint.

The post you originally responded to was about poor play being of importance, regardless of high pay. There was no comparison between Pasta and Swayman.

By the way, I'm a slow reader to begin with. Can't really slow down any more.

Reading is fundamental.

One can root for the team (as we all do here; it’s the reason why we’re all here) yet at the same time, not play the role of “useful idiot”(that’s a former Soviet term, not an ad hominem attack) and at least come to realize, if not even go further, in ways large or small, to and act upon it, to let ownership and management know that they are failing in their jobs and are responsible for the sorry state of this team.

They're at .500 after 30 games.

Prior to that, in the previous 9 years, they've won 61% of their regular season games. And in the previous 3 years, they've won 66%.

How does one (in ways large or small) act upon letting ownership and management know that they are failing in their jobs? Protest? Picket on Causeway? Write stern - extremely stern - emails to the team's general email account?

Pasta makes even more than Swayman and he's taking a lot of heat for his poor play this season. But the money shouldn't be the issue, as you said, the performance should be.
Hey Dennis Bonvie
This is the post I responded to.

adding - Pasta is in a slump. Has produced at Hart trophy consideration Rocket Trophy while being paid by Bruins for multiple consecutive seasons.

Swayman ? As a 66 million dollar number one goalie ..... he just sucks.

As Hab fans we can only dream.on management as good as the Bruins have had over the last two decades.
Thst being said we don't envy Bruins goaltending.
Management screwed that up plain and simple.
Ulmark shoukd be wearing the black and gold. Swayman should be making about 4 mill a season on Ottawa.
It would not take a Sam Pollock or Bill Torey to have pulled that off. Pretty simple. Sweeney dropped the ball.
Keeping and paying Swayman as a number one is a....YIKES.
You have to go back decades to find a number one goalie in Boston not better Swayman.
Puts me in mind of Campbell Soup.

I feel like I’m conversing with an intransigent Don Sweeney, himself, or with a member of the Jacobs family.

Well, first, I think one has to admit there’s a problem before it can be addressed. It appears that some here are satisfied simply with winning records and President’s Trophies. For those, my remarks fall on deaf ears.

To those not satisfied with that, they could do things like not pay to attend games, or otherwise contribute to the Jacobs family coffers, complain on radio shows or comment via sites like this or on YouTube channels or other social media avenues.

But, if you think this team is good enough for your entertainment dollar and interest, then fine. To each his own.

I see a team that’s been mismanaged for nearly a decade and am not among those satisfied with where we are.

OK.

Doesn't that post say this season?

And doesn't it say money is not the issue?

I’m literally saying im OK with it. I’m just stating that they’re non fighters.

He came into the league taking on some decent fighters.
Almost all rats are non fighters, and some are dumb enough to ask guys to go! So if you ask to dance , put on your shoes.

To be honest I saw it on my phone watching the recap. I may be wrong. I think more largely I’m reacting to the idea that any of the goals “weren’t his fault”. At best we’ve seen average goaltending from Swayman this season. He’s been poor many more games than he’s been good.

If you hold out for $8.5M as a goalie you have to steal games when the team is playing like crap. That absolutely means snagging goals that otherwise wouldn’t be his his fault if they went in. The “oh my God” saves you get from elite goalies. Since his Billy Big Boots holdout I’ve not seen many of those from him — a lot of “oh my God” softies instead.

Time for Jeremy to get his shit together. Scratch that. Way past the time for him to get his shit together.
Believe me I know how you feel. If you recall, I think I gave Swayman more crap than most people posting here during his negotiations. I think he betrayed "Bruins culture" not in his ask but in how he handled and allowed negotiations to unfold. He came across as 'he first' and team last ... which didn't and doesn't sit well. I probably would have been fine with trading him, depending on the return. I still think that contract hurt the team this year.

But with that said I can't fault him on the first three goals , 3 out of the last five, yes.

Like I said during training camp, Swayman's performance last spring in the playoffs might be the best that Swayman ever plays in this league. I hope that is not true, I want him to do well, so the team does well. But so far, he has played very average.

And a goalie
Agreem if a team sees value in Swayman and offers a solid deal, I would move him.

do you think!......oh no let's get a new coach, best fall-back excuse.
Yeah that is the move Sweeney will make, at this point they are no where near being a contender, but Sweeney will trade away the future for band-aid solutions, because he knows his a$$ is on the line.
