WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Mark Scheifele scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a convincing 8-1 victory over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night.

Nikita Chibrikov, Mason Appleton, Alex Iafallo, Gabriel Vilardi, Kyle Connor and Vladislav Namestnikov scored the other Winnipeg goals.

Scheifele now has a 13-game point streak at home, totaling 20 points in that stretch.

David Pastrnak replied for the Bruins, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves for Winnipeg. Jeremy Swayman stopped 27 shots for Boston.

Scheifele scored his second goal of the game, one-timing a perfect setup from Josh Morrissey on a second-period power play, increasing the Winnipeg lead to 3-0.

Namestnikov opened the scoring in the first period with Boston defenseman Brandon Carlo off for four minutes after clipping Kyle Connor with a high stick. With an assist on the goal, Neal Pionk reached the 200-point mark since joining the Jets in a trade with the New York Rangers.

Takeaways
Bruins: Boston was on their heels after the Jets scored on the power play in the first period, but came to life in the second, scoring their first goal and missing a number of chances. Then they fell apart in the third.

Jets: Winnipeg seemed sparked by the energy displayed by call-up Chibrikov. He drew an early penalty, started the play that led to Winnipeg’s first goal, then assisted on Iafallo’s power-play goal. Then, Scheifele took over, converting two great passes, and dominating play whenever he was on the ice.

Key moment
Connor scored on a setup from Scheifele 1:15 into the third period giving Winnipeg a 4-1 lead and deflating the Bruins.

Key stat
The Jets scored three power-play goals.

Up next
The Bruins visit the Seattle Kraken on Thursday. The Jets host the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday.

Could be just one bad game after a decent stretch where they went 7-2. This road trip was always going to be a big test for them even before this game. Lets see how they respond.

You know how things swing here. Literally from one game to the next. Talk of how to improve the team for the playoff run to fire everyone because this is the worst run franchise in hockey. Bad owner, bad president, bad GM, bad coaches, bad roster.

The Bruins need a new core, new group of leaders , Everyone should be available if someone comes calling.

Make a major shakeup trade, Do it before the Rangers do.
Give the C to the stick guy because there isn’t a player in that room that deserves to wear it. Not one player on that team deserves to wear the bruins jersey. This team and current management group will be a stain on this clubs legacy. And yet idiot fans will line up for season tickets and pay 26$ for drinks and nothing will change.

People were saying we do not have a top 9, we have a hard time coming up with a top 3.

This team needs way too much to be a true contender. All the money is spent but the results are not there. Elias Lindholm on pace for about 35 points.

Crazy to think that he's currently 4th on the team in points and only on pace for 35pts. Hell, Pastrnak is on pace for 76pts. His P/GP this year is the lowest its been since the 2016-2017 season.

Jets coach Scott Arniel conceded that he’d put his first power play back in the game out of anger at the Bruins even with his team up 6-1.

“Certainly you read that right,” he said when asked if that was his motivation. “But at the end of the day, I’m not going to sit and talk about what happened in the last 10 minutes of the hockey game. That’s detrimental for the game we played.”

What a putz.

If that doesn’t light a fire in the Bruins nothing will..

I know the game ended up a blowout. But IMO they outplayed the Jets for the1st 2 periods , which in my eyes is encouraging . The PK and D is what did them in this game .
I did not see the game, was blacked out in my area.
Take away the 3 PP goals and it is still a 5-1 loss.
I guess we had the same old problem of not scoring last night?
We will not win any games if we do not score at least 3 goals.
Let's hope we can re bound with a win over the Kraken.

Looks like the new coach surge has run its course/

Back to reminding all that you can’t win at the nhl level with 1 top 6 forward and a sieve in net.

Swayman, lohrei and Peeke sucked as well as the entire offense.

Kind of just seems like a beat the bad teams and get destroyed by the good teams type of year

So yes we have a problem at center...if that isn't apparent. Solid teams like Florida and Winnipeg completely dominated ours.

And yes, we have a goalie problem. A loss is a loss but I would accept a four to one loss over an eight to one loss anytime. How deflating it is to see a guy just wave at pucks or can't cover the goal post properly.
Trouble is Sacco feels impelled (forced) to play him no matter how many good games Korpisalo has because (as it's my understanding) Swayman is our money goalie. But not the Grant Fuhr, Cheever, Billy Smith type. A different type of meaning all together.

Next up Seattle. We have a lifetime 3-3-1 record. They play us tough and it will not be easy.
Korpi will likely be in net this we may have a chance.

Fortunately for the bruins there appears to be a legitimate chance that both wildcards spots could make it with 88-92 points.

Dumpster fire of a conference this year lol

Have to disagree completely with this. They hung in there for two periods is about the best you can say, and if they had any finish (a recurring problem to say the least) they might have been more in it. Certainly they were not getting blown out of the water through two.

Really?

What gave you that impression?
I watched the game , the Bruins offense had plenty of quality zone entries and opportunities to score which is a step up from other games where the offense has been on snooze. Sway makes a few more saves and the B's avoid the box and this game could have been 1-1 or 2-1 heading to the 3rd. Its easy to look at the score and assume it was a blowout from the outset.

They hung in there and traded chances with one of the elite teams in the NHL. The difference in the 1st two periods was their PP vs our PK and their netminder vs ours.

The Quiet Corner
In this age of hockey, there are zero issues or shame with declining a fight or turtling and getting the 2 minutes. Those days are long past. Frederic asked, Gustafsson answered, end of story. And if Lowry didn't like it, I'm sure he will deal with it in his own way, which is his right.

I'm not happy that Frederic asked Gustafsson, he should have asked someone who fights. That said, Gustafson could have declined but he chose to go. Actions have consequences.

We are long passed that point. If no fire has been lit by now, there won't be one.

I thought Boston played well in the 1st too. They were creating some good chaos in front of Hellebuyck. Loose pucks just weren't finding the right sticks at the right times. I have no issue with how they played for most of the 1st.

Admittedly, i started fast forwarding at an incredible rate pretty early in period 2.

That doesn't mean that they outplayed the Jets for 2 periods.

Sway is part of the team. Ending up in the box is part of the game. As is killing penalties. Getting scoring opportunities without really turning them into legit chances to score means little.

I watched the game too.

Yeah, but Lowry will police that. Or at least he should. Plus we don't know what kind of chirping was going on before the fight. Gustafsson could have chirped something that warranted a beating.

No way to tell if Freddy asked him too or if it happened spontaneously after they both get their sticks up at each other after the faceoff.

First period wasn't bad at all. Jets got a couple lucky bounces go their way, but the Bruins at least looked like they were in it with getting tons of traffic in front of Hellebuyck. They were down, but not out.

And then the other 40 minutes happened.

Swayman was somehow not as bad as he looked on paper but also worse. 2 of the first 3 goals he had zero chance on, but when you can still be blamed for giving up 5 of the 8 (while giving up 8 entirely) it's not exactly a good night for you anyway.

I would personally prefer to see Korpisalo get the next couple games. He's been the better goalie all year and seems to be back to being a decent NHL goalie now free from the hell that is playing behind the Senators defense.

When anyone talks about “outplaying” they’re never including goaltending. It’s separate, despite the goalie being “part of the team”.

And I don’t think they outplayed them for two periods, but it wasn’t far off.
