WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Mark Scheifele scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a convincing 8-1 victory over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night.

Nikita Chibrikov, Mason Appleton, Alex Iafallo, Gabriel Vilardi, Kyle Connor and Vladislav Namestnikov scored the other Winnipeg goals.

Scheifele now has a 13-game point streak at home, totaling 20 points in that stretch.

David Pastrnak replied for the Bruins, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves for Winnipeg. Jeremy Swayman stopped 27 shots for Boston.

Scheifele scored his second goal of the game, one-timing a perfect setup from Josh Morrissey on a second-period power play, increasing the Winnipeg lead to 3-0.

Namestnikov opened the scoring in the first period with Boston defenseman Brandon Carlo off for four minutes after clipping Kyle Connor with a high stick. With an assist on the goal, Neal Pionk reached the 200-point mark since joining the Jets in a trade with the New York Rangers.

Takeaways
Bruins: Boston was on their heels after the Jets scored on the power play in the first period, but came to life in the second, scoring their first goal and missing a number of chances. Then they fell apart in the third.

Jets: Winnipeg seemed sparked by the energy displayed by call-up Chibrikov. He drew an early penalty, started the play that led to Winnipeg’s first goal, then assisted on Iafallo’s power-play goal. Then, Scheifele took over, converting two great passes, and dominating play whenever he was on the ice.

Key moment
Connor scored on a setup from Scheifele 1:15 into the third period giving Winnipeg a 4-1 lead and deflating the Bruins.

Key stat
The Jets scored three power-play goals.

Up next
The Bruins visit the Seattle Kraken on Thursday. The Jets host the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday.

This team is garbage. Can't compete with above average teams. Zero offensive abilities. Defense running all over the place. Swayman body language is atrocious after he lets up a few.

Liked this bit:

Marchand, before departing the room, paused after being asked whether he “felt for his goalie” being in there for all eight goals.

“Not really, I mean everyone had a bad night, he’s part of it. He’s not singled out,” said Marchand. “I don’t think anyone can look at themselves in the mirror and say they had a good game. He’s part of the group. He’s part of the bad loss.”

I took it as they don't want to go through the whole dog and pony show of getting a new coach just for it to do nothing and one or both of sweely lose their job. With Sacco they give a potentially hungry guy a chance to seize his moment and produce results where no one has answers or keep the seat warm giving them another person to blame for not getting the job done.

This is the answer. I will say though, I feel like both Sweeney & Neely are safe.....until they start costing Papa Jacobs his playoff money.

That was the worse game I have even seen Brad play

The Bruins need a new core, new group of leaders , Everyone should be available if someone comes calling.

Make a major shakeup trade, Do it before the Rangers do.

We really need a coach with some kind of structure. They changed the players on Monty so his system didn't work anymore, now I have no ****ing clue what Sacco is trying to do. We have no organization within our own zone, and that is absolutely amplified when the other team has a heavy forecheck. I thought Sacco was a bad idea to begin with, but this is what, the 4/5th game they've given up 5+ goals? Only worst teams only do this.
There is a defensive structure, but the Bruins' defense was puck watching a lot last night and let Winnipeg have their way way too often. Winnipeg has talent and the scoring ability to make that kind of play hurt, and it showed last night. It's kind of like how Marchand and Pastrnak made the Chicago D look like swiss cheese. On offense though, I'm not seeing any structure.

I've felt that way since Sacco took over: that the Bruins were still playing sloppy and careless but were not doing it against teams that could really punish them for it. This could be a long road trip.

People were saying we do not have a top 9, we have a hard time coming up with a top 3.

This team needs way too much to be a true contender. All the money is spent but the results are not there. Elias Lindholm on pace for about 35 points.

Revenge for who? In all honesty I don’t see the Bruins with the horses to get Revenge. I do see Lowry writing this day down on his calendar though.
Revenge for 8-1 if anything.

Jets coach Scott Arniel conceded that he’d put his first power play back in the game out of anger at the Bruins even with his team up 6-1.
“Certainly you read that right,” he said when asked if that was his motivation. “But at the end of the day, I’m not going to sit and talk about what happened in the last 10 minutes of the hockey game. That’s detrimental for the game we played.”

What a putz.

They were playing pretty good up until the 4min PP for Winnipeg. In the end the Bruins are not contenders. If, big if, they make the playoffs I know "anything can happen" but realistically they are out in the first round without adding offense.

Lindholm is a ghost, Swayman is not a good goalie this season and Carlo is so overrated even with most on here seeing him as underated.

This doesn't even account for the underwhelming play of the rest of the team. This team is a mess and it all falls on the shoulders of Sweeney and Neely.

Watched the 10min highlight package above.
What a mess.

Passing lanes wide open.
Brutal turnovers. Nice one at the blueline Captain!

Did Swayman make a save? Glad he was left in. Dude needs to start playing better since he "reset the goalie market". Prolly feels nice sleeping in an $8million dollar bed after that one.

Lorhei/Peeke looked brutal. Whoever thought Peeke was a 2nd pairing D, boy you are wrong.

Carlo out there looking like Bambi again. Would explore trading him for some offensive help if there's a taker.

In this age of hockey, there are zero issues or shame with declining a fight or turtling and getting the 2 minutes. Those days are long past. Frederic asked, Gustafsson answered, end of story. And if Lowry didn't like it, I'm sure he will deal with it in his own way, which is his right.

Two of their top paid players.

Along with Pasta, Marchand and McAvoy (and the injured Lindholm).

Consistently better play from these guys would make this a much better team.

It could happen. It should happen. But we've been waiting a long time for it.

Does anyone really care what the Jets had to say?

I sure don't,

I am happy that their goalie will be the USA goalie. They can use Swayman as the practice dummy shooter tooter

I do.

Much better than just seeing things in a vacuum.
