WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Mark Scheifele scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a convincing 8-1 victory over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night.

Nikita Chibrikov, Mason Appleton, Alex Iafallo, Gabriel Vilardi, Kyle Connor and Vladislav Namestnikov scored the other Winnipeg goals.

Scheifele now has a 13-game point streak at home, totaling 20 points in that stretch.

David Pastrnak replied for the Bruins, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves for Winnipeg. Jeremy Swayman stopped 27 shots for Boston.

Scheifele scored his second goal of the game, one-timing a perfect setup from Josh Morrissey on a second-period power play, increasing the Winnipeg lead to 3-0.

Namestnikov opened the scoring in the first period with Boston defenseman Brandon Carlo off for four minutes after clipping Kyle Connor with a high stick. With an assist on the goal, Neal Pionk reached the 200-point mark since joining the Jets in a trade with the New York Rangers.

Takeaways
Bruins: Boston was on their heels after the Jets scored on the power play in the first period, but came to life in the second, scoring their first goal and missing a number of chances. Then they fell apart in the third.

Jets: Winnipeg seemed sparked by the energy displayed by call-up Chibrikov. He drew an early penalty, started the play that led to Winnipeg’s first goal, then assisted on Iafallo’s power-play goal. Then, Scheifele took over, converting two great passes, and dominating play whenever he was on the ice.

Key moment
Connor scored on a setup from Scheifele 1:15 into the third period giving Winnipeg a 4-1 lead and deflating the Bruins.

Key stat
The Jets scored three power-play goals.

Up next
The Bruins visit the Seattle Kraken on Thursday. The Jets host the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday.

It wasn't a bad game until the third period ... jets 4th goal to start the third was when it was over and the wheels fell off.
After that penalties and missed coverage it was all down hill for Boston.
Boston never had an answer for Winnipeg's first line or powerplay.

The first two periods Boston tried to make a game of it. Several missed chances by Boston early on that if they scored first could have changed the tempo of the game, but no such luck.

Swayman had no chance on the first 3 goals ... it was a bad call on Pastrnak that lead to the jets 3rd goal. And prior to that Winnipeg's 1st goal was on a 4 minute Boston penalty. Boston was left chasing and trying to play catch up the whole game.

Long season and games like this happen. It will be interesting to see how the team responds the rest of this trip. Sweeney has some hard decisions to make going forward.
The problem here is this has happened far to often. Absolutely humiliated by Dallas, Carolina, Winnipeg and Florida. The game in Toronto was no prize either.

By rights they should rebuild, but given this draft is looking weak they will ride this out
to 1st RD PO elimination or bubble DNQ.

Sacco will likely get the sack to cover the issues created by the gargoyles looking down from that box in the sky. They scapegoated the coach and fired him to placate the fans. They should start going up the ladder to the next rung. That's where the issues lie. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
Hard to rebuild a team when the vultures are circling looking for bargains. Not sure if the powers that be think Sacco can pull off a miracle with a motley crew and win the cup but that seems to be where the team is at this point in the season.

The Bruins simply don't have the top 9 to keep up with the elite teams of the league.

Having Geekie and Brazeau in the top 6 is a complete joke.

It's time to drop Lindholm to 3C.

Why isn't Wotherspoon playing? Is he injured?
barely have the top 9 to keep up with mediocre teams, so glad I was at a BCHL game and missed it

We really need a coach with some kind of structure. They changed the players on Monty so his system didn't work anymore, now I have no ****ing clue what Sacco is trying to do. We have no organization within our own zone, and that is absolutely amplified when the other team has a heavy forecheck. I thought Sacco was a bad idea to begin with, but this is what, the 4/5th game they've given up 5+ goals? Only worst teams only do this.

Lets face it, a 32 team league makes for a ton of mediocrity but it also makes total rebuilds much more difficult. Boston has enough talent to be a bubble team this year and next. So they will play it safe and not make a major trade.

Imagine what we could have done with the money we flushed away on Zadorov, Elias Lindholm, and the horrible Swayman extension.

We are witnessing with Swayman what would have happened had we signed Andrew Raycroft to a big contract after a small sample size instead of trading him. We are now stuck with this deal until the 2030s, no other team is dumb enough to touch his contract with a ten foot pole.

This

They are a bubble team

There is no way ownership will tear it down and risk fans not showing up..the point ownership is missing is that the current product isn't much fun to watch and attendance is going to falter- tear down or not

Huh? This is the first game under Sacco in 10 they have given up more than 3.

Watching Sway right now is like watching the 3 hour sinking of the Titanic. It's unreal.

Remember when people crapped on RASK? Man we'd all take Rask back in a second.

Bruins under Sacco

vs Teams under .500 P% (5-1-0)
vs Teams over .500 P% (2-2-0)

^The two wins against teams over .500 teams were PHI & UTH, both of whom are BARLEY over .500 in P% on the season. It also was with the Bruins coming back from 2 goals down and needing OT for them to win one of those games.

Blues under Monty are 5-1-1 and haven't faced a team with under a .500 P% as of today. The team that just blew us out, lost to Monty's Blues 4-1 a week ago.

Monty wasn't the problem. It's the crappy construction of this team. You have a pair of 4th liners that have nearly as many points as a pair of top 6 guys.....and those 4th liners have roughly 200 minutes less of ice time. Justin Brazeau is 3rd on this team in points. 3 seasons ago he was bouncing between the ECHL and AHL.

Here's a list of forwards that have been drafted & developed under Sweeney & Co. and who are on the Bruins roster:

Trent Frederic
John Beecher

^That's it, that's the list.

This regime is f***ing horrendous at drafting and developing forwards.

A lot of clearance rack castoffs that Sweeney loves to bring in :dunno:

I can basically guarantee you a GM out there is dumb enough to trade for him. They’ll chalk up his struggles to the team around him and the drama of his contract. Right or wrong, I have no idea.
But if they’re going to trade him it needs to be done this offseason before there are multiple seasons of him being bad.
I’m expecting some Bronx cheers the next time he plays at home
