This board is funny:
3 weeks ago: "Blow it up, full rebuild is needed"!
Last week: "Monty is god, Anyone else getting 2019 vibes!"
Tonight: "Core player so-and-so sucks, never shoulda been re-signed, team sucks"

Lmao

Were in the middle of a re-tool we absolutely are gonna have a roller coaster of a couple years here. We need to be patient and keep expectations in line, games like tonight are to be expected from time to time. Were building towards 2026, sure if Dvorsky and Snuggerud both come out hot we may over-perform next season and that may bump up to 2025. But this season was always gonna be one big transition year. Many need to slightly lower expectations, and realize the team may go through even more swings in play as more and more young players make the roster and get adjusted. The overall vision is still on track.

I think the problem is projecting the thoughts of any one poster onto the entirety of the board. Of course that's going to make everyone sound insane.

Fans here are so...no. There are dozens of fans on here all of them with their own thought processes. Stop projecting random thoughts onto anyone other than the person that said it and you won't get that bi-polarity.

I agree with the rest of what you said.

Agreed, Saad needs to start playing better, so he has improved trade value. Looking like a bum right now.

Saad has been the definition of a passenger player this year. If he is not being setup for a great opportunity he is invisible. Can't create on his own, ineffective on the forecheck and 2way game lacking. Honestly I would drop him all the way down to the 4th line or maybe even press box.

I did go for a generalized "some" which in hindsight, i coulda said "a few". But I have zero interest in calling out individuals, as ive seen quite a few back-n-forths between guys that usually just lead to personal attacks or insults. Im staying out of that. Too much of that going on so far this season.

It's called vision.

Logic > Emotions

I trust DAs vision.
Thinking that logic > emotion is a major major problem in this world.

Intellect (not logic) and emotion should ALWAYS be on the same footing.

Move too far into one area and you are doomed

In other words, your position lacks vision.

Different tasks/jobs require different levels of each, its rarely, if ever 50/50.

Example: Air traffic controller needs to be damn near 100% logic and 0% emotion. But say a social worker could be great with say 80% emotions (sympathy/care taking) and 20% logic.

Im glad DA is much heavier on the logic side of things with his vision. His latest move with hiring Monty was rooted in logic. Hire the best guy for the job, when he's available (logic), regardless of how well the team had been playing under Banister, and whether or not he got a fair shot (emotional) with some top guys out with injury.

DA has a logical plan, and im on board.

Sharks are the new Arizona Coyotes for me, f*** that team lol

I will say I’ve always used to hate the 89-18-25 line five on five but lately this season that line has been really good and is fun to watch. Feel like they should keep that going.

Also I want them to try a line with Holly Schenn and Bolduc. 81 and 76 has some chemistry cooking I’d like to see them get a chance to play with Schenn.

That leaves Neighbors with Sunny and Joseph. Im a HUGE Neighbors fan this isn’t a knock on him, his style would fit well there and he can bring offense to that line and still get top pp time. Scratch Saad.

Kess and PO weren’t good tonight and I want my boy Peru back in the lineup, you sacrifice some muscle but you get his dynamic passing and offense from the backend, thats more valuable to me out of our 3rd pair options.

For the love of God get Faulk off the top pp unit and let Broberg have an opportunity there.

You make some good points there, but I’m referring to a way of approaching life in general. The way we live must be balanced.

But I understand your post and that’s just how you’re wired. I’m not. In finance, you’d think intellect (much prefer that term over logic) should take precedence over emotion, but it is emotion that is the base impetus of motivations and it is intellect that drives the motivations toward a solution.

We just have different ways of thinking and that is okay.

Fun game. Not only did we get to watch the Blues put out a garbage effort against a terrible team -- but we got to watch a 3-hour long Siteman Cancer Center commercial.

Exactly what I tune into hockey for -- to have cancer and its death toll take over half the conversation. I definitely dont tune into hockey to take a break from real life for a few hours here and there. I hope they delve into politics and religion next game.

His production in juniors was exceptional. The overlooked aspect IMO is that players can get away with lack of size and speed at that level if their hockey IQ, stickhandling, and shot are as good as Bedard's. In the NHL, you can get away lack of size OR speed, but it's really difficult to lack both and be a "generational talent."
Celebrini may well be be better, but I'd go slow on those Bedard isn't that good takes. Chicago has abysmal roster; once they put more talent around him Bedard will be able to shine.

It's not uncommon for new parents to struggle. Players need sleep to be at their best.

Many people here don't need any help with that lol.

Frustrating game to watch. Weak ass call against Holloway that led to the backbreaking PP goal at the end of the 2nd. Bad luck bounce on Celebrini's first goal and even the first goal was bad luck in the sense that the puck just ended up on Toffoli's stick. No one on the ice even knew where it was. Then smug Walman celebrating as if he just scored a game winner in the finals was the icing on the crap cake.

However none of that changes the fact that we deserved to lose this game. The Sharks outplayed us and forced us to play catch up all night. We've had trouble with the Sharks for like the last 3 years while the rest of the league has dominated them.

Interesting that Faulk played over 6:30 more than Parayko and Broberg over 4:00 more. Would have rather seen Peru and Texier over the Joseph bros.

Eh, losing to San Jose the first game back from a road trip, expected. I would care about this loss more if the team was a contender (it would've looked really bad for a contender to have a mental lapse a game long).

I'm glad someone else here agrees with this. Star Trek's portrayal of the Vulcans did significant damage to our cultural attitude towards this imo.

The reason we struggle with the Sharks is that they have one of the most extremely aggressive forechecks in all of hockey. They commit all three forwards deep and they also expect their D to pinch down hard on anything up the wall. The biggest issue on our roster for today and upcoming is our lack of play drivers on the back end. Parayko, Faulk, Suter, and to a lesser extent Broberg simply cannot beat a strong forecheck, it's been our achillies heel forever.

We look terrible b/c as soon as a defenseman gets the puck, they panic at the pressure and make a soft play, which is easily readable by the Shark's D, so they jump up and pinch hard. The first period was a masterclass on showing how bad our current D-core is at transitioning the puck up the ice, it got better once we basically had Thomas and the other Centers dip lower and start carrying it out themselves so our D only needed to make a 5 foot pass, instead of a 20 foot pass.

The Sharks aren't a very good hockey team, and they won last night based on a couple of lucky bounces. Once Monty realized that Parayko/Suter/Faulk simply blow dick at transitioning the puck against a full-press forecheck, we turned the game around and should have won, if not for P.O. Joseph and Saad going full moron on a pinch, with Kessel following it up shortly after with the worst played 2v1 I've seen in ages. Even with all that went wrong last night Buch (Who did play one of his worst games in recent memory) still had a chance to tie it and was off by an inch.

It happens, when it matters we'll beat teams like the Sharks.
