Wings stood no chance against us, so it wasn't proper preparation for the season. Preds gave us a more appropriate challenge, and even with the mistakes, we still persevered.

Blackhawks will be the major threat now. Honestly I won't at all be surprised if we lose this game. If we do I can only hope we put up a great fight at least, which I'm sure we will.

This is going to be the hardest match so far for sure

I'm glad we had Nashville between Det and Chi so they can figure out where's still work to do

On the other hand yesterdays match costed a lot of energy, let's see how much fresher the Hawks are...

I'm not convinced Chicago has the goaltending to be with the elite teams this season, but they do look much hungrier than they did last season. When Toewes was out, they looked like they lost their rudder. Should be a great game.

I'd love for us to get another win here, but as I see it we have a few things going against us.

1. We played a gritty energy-draining OT game last night.
2. The Hawks (esp Kane and Hossa) have looked dangerous so far and they'll want to make a statement tonight.
3. Andy Macs status after taking that puck to the face. Hitch apparently said he was fine after the game last night. Let's hope nothing's changed since then. That line's so hot right now, it's silly.

On the other hand, we have a fresh goalie who played great last night. We have at least 3 lines who's going on all cylinders (Perron-Backes-Oshie needs to pick it up), and the D looks sharp.

Prediction: We get another point but the Hawks wins it in OT.

Crawford isn't a great goalie, very inconsistent, had a solid game last contest out for the Hawks. We'll see what happens

Wouldn't be surprised to see a high-scoring game

I personally think we match up better against Chicago than Nashville. I like our chances tonight but we need to come out of the gate strong and play controlling hockey that we did so much of last year.

Shutting down Hossa, Kane, and Toews will be tough as they are all playing really well this year.

We have to come in prepared on this one but I still think we have the edge due to our depth and goaltending

Hoping Petro has a bounce back game defensively. I know he scored the tying goal but I don't know if I've seen him play a game that bad on our side of the redline ever.

I wonder if both Langs and Dags will get into the game tonight? I like our current lineup, but with the condensed schedule it would probably be better to cycle some players in.

I really want this one. I can respect Detroit and I have a bit of a soft spot for Nashville as they are a lot like us in many regards.

Cannot say that about Chicago. This will be the hardest game of the 3 so far and I think the Hawks are one of the top 3 teams in the West, but I cannot stand them.

I don't like the team(besides Hossa). Kane might be the least likable player not in Vancouver.

I don't like the fan base.(had 3 bad experiences at games and 2 involved Blackhawk fans)

I hate the asinine goal song they play that sounds like a Pejorative Slured baby.

Please don't lose to Chicago.

I'll say 4-3 Blues as it's early in the season and Chicago's goalies are not up to par. Goals from Backes, Perron, Steen, and Shattenkirk.

Of course I have class on the most important game of the season so far...Then again, my (2 1/2 year old) son having pneumonia is a pretty good excuse to miss class. On the plus side, it's a logic course, so you guys should *don't count on it* see an increase in the quality of my posts.

Regardless, Blues get thumped 4-1. Bolland gets assigned to Frank and shuts him down.

No way we walk out with points tonight if: we take penalties like last night and/or have defensive breakdowns by our best player.

Otherwise, I think we match up better with Chicago than Nashville. We're deeper, capable of matching their run and gun, and better at playing the down-low game...and Crawford is streaky.

...but since we played last night, and it's their opening night, I think Chicago takes this one.

Nothing has changed with Chicago roster-wise.

Their fate is tied to their health (and improved special teams).

No surprise their coming out of the gates hot with their entire roster in tact but we'll see what happens in a month from now.

The Blues and Kings have the depth that other teams can't match in a long grind.

Hopefully Perron can start to have more of an impact against his nemesis team. Positionally, it looks like it's his first season out of juniors. He's all over the place.

5 on 5 the Blues are brilliant so enough with the momentum sapping penalties. Only reason Nashville was in that game.

4-2 W.

If Crawford gives them even decent goaltending, they are a very good team. This will definitely be the toughest test for the Blues so far. I'll go 3-2 Blues in OT.

EDIT: Hawks fans are *****ing pretty hard in their GDT lol. Jealousy breeds contempt.

We will find out about your Hawks Blues theory. We got a pretty good team up here too. Not all us Chicagoans are Cubs fans and I wouldn't hold your breath on the Rams either.

Congrats on the lower murder rate then us though. :handclap:

Already found out last year. Regular season and playoffs.
