I don't know how much it will impact either franchise going forward, but I don't think this owner gives a damn about anything other than turning a profit.
Guess what? In a salary cap environment, the team can only increase revenue by going further into the playoffs.

Of course, the team could also cut costs, but I think they could do just as well by firing all of their scouts and picking a dozen random people at LCA. To be fair, Chris did let Stevie add some more staff.

I was honestly resigned to the fact that a jersey ad was eventually coming.....but I never would have imagined that it would have been literally a garbage company.
It would have been nice if they made it a cool patch like my avatar.

The issue with dealing Larkin is now you are saying well we plan to tank for another 3-4 seasons, because top 30 centers don't make it to FA and are rarely dealt.

I don't think the Wings need to raze it to the ground go forward they just need to raze most of the current vets off this team.

If Danielson winds up being a 3C, Stevie's entire tenure is an epic fail. Imagine being one of the best centers ever to play the game and being unable to acquire a 2C after 2 tries in free agency and 2 top 10 draft picks. Not to mention Kenny's previous fail with Joey and Raz. Worse yet, the head scout was also a center, as was Boyd "Bambi" Gordon, their pro scout.

Nate does have 10 pts in his last 11 games, and Kasper looks good at time, but neither are able to actually score goals.... which is definitely concerning. I think they could both still be 2C, but both need scoring wingers. Neither of them shoot enough. Neither look like they have 1C potential.

The draft will be interesting, because Stevie needs a center, but the BPA might be a winger. I'd feel a lot better if Stevie had picked Hage instead of MBN last draft, that kid looks like he could be 2C.

Which only really makes a difference as far as the record books are concerned, this team would still suck today.

Joe and ras have absolutely nothing to do with yzerman . He does seem to be building a potentially elite back end with seider edvinsson pellikka and a goaltending tandem

Even this year im leaning towards Schaeffer. Again nothing is written in stone but if those 4 d play as great as we hope we might end up having to deal 1 in the future unless cap goes way pass 100 mill . Anyways all hypotheticals

Our mistake was trying to win earlier than expected. That being said I havent written off kasper. Far from it, I'm more concerned of finding an elite 1c. Larkin is good but never thought of him that way + he keeps getting older every year

Forget finding a 2c , we need to find a 1c so when the time comes Larkin can drop a slot and then this team will look scary

As I said many times I'd be targeting a cozens, byfield would have said wright but I dont think Seattle thinks of moving him now that hea playing better. Point is find someone young with high upside but still young enough

Sadly The star players dont make it to free agency. And trading now for a Matthews lets say would cost us raymond pellikka danielson and a 1st type of deal which is a no can do move for a rebuilding team

Don't we have 3 young centers which we hope at least one will develop to be 1C or 2C?

When did Detroit exit the rebuild and try to win too soon? Last year’s team overachieved because depth scoring.

Also you might be one of three people on the wings board that says Larkin is a 2C. The other two posters are blatant trolls, so maybe you need to adjust what a 1C and 2C are in your opinion.

Just watched the highlights.

Pretty typical. Start flat footed. Get outshot 2:1. Rally final moments of the game. Fall short.

As other have said, so many players seem checked out. Many just suck ass.

I absolutely hate Lalonde at this point, but am starting to resent Yzerman at this point as well. He is so basic. Like what the f*** is plan B, Steve?

This is what I suspected would happen this year because so many players looked checked out in March and April of last season when we were in a playoff hunt. Lalonde has to be a very disliked coach by this team.
