But who's that 'star' player available?

Unfortunate reality is slim pickings :(

Vegas/Winnipeg in OT...Very entertaining!
I would've gone after Horvat. I realize he's making the same amount as Larkin for less production, but the Wings would've made the playoffs last season and probably this one.

And note, that would've been a trade not free agency. Free agency is slim pickings for sure, but there were better players available than Copp and Compher.

Wait, I thought the narrative is that Chris is cheap. Now you're saying Chris forced Stevie to spend money?

The issue is that Stevie is signing a bunch of garbage players under $6M. Copp and Compher combined make more than $10M. For that price, I'd rather have one legit star player and a warm body than 2 mediocre players. Too bad Copp has 2 more seasons and Compher has 3. We have a lot more shitty hockey coming our way.
When did I ever say he was cheap?? Lmao

Sure we'd all want that legit star... and who would that be exactly??? They dont make it to free agency

We get the has beens . I got slack for saying tarasenko was gone and ppl arguing he could be a 30 goal guy again lol ... If kane was never hurt he never would have come here

Again no free agent stars are coming , and the way we suck we had to overpay compher and copp ... again 2 scrubs I got attacked for cause I said they were bottom 6 guys and ppl actually thought they were 2c's

Yup 2026-2027 is the year we turn things around next season is more pain cause we'll be inserting kids with 0 nhl experience but itll also be fun to watch and what needs to happen

Cheers to another upcoming day of me checking for "Lalonde has been fired" news every hour and it never happening

that won't magically change the team. at its very best this roster could compete for a wildcard.

probably keeping Lalonde would allow to compete for top-3 draft position?

we are into very very long rebuild.

Like who? The only guy lighting it up in GR is Lombardi who’s injured. Danielson isn’t exactly thriving.
Soderblom will be 24 , we have to know if he will be here next season. I know he's got 1 goal but I always said I thought hed be better in the nhl

I'd want to see him for 5-10 games, 3rd line and in front of the goalie on the ppl

Wallinder and tuomisto... again 23-24 yr old guys ... see what's there

After that who cares, maybe cross Hanas ... dont think he has a future here and wont get resigned but might as well see him for a couple of games

Even a coach that leads this team to the same exact spot in the standings but plays a more entertaining brand of hockey would be an upgrade. It seems like the Wings show solid effort for maybe an average of 20 total minutes a game, and besides that 20 minutes they are on cruise control. If they're going to do a lot of losing I would at least like to be able to stay awake during the games. At the end of the day, professional sports are a part of the entertainment industry.

Boys the Hockey God's are trolling us. Plug Goat against the Wings Scott Laughton scores 4 looking like McDavid with two EN goals. Lmao we are down super bad.

I can't believe that these players can't hold each other accountable.
Larkin is likely going thru a mid life crisis 20 years too soon...Wouldn't blame him for wanting a trade...At 28 he ain't getting any younger and his chances to win a Cup are slim if he remains in Detroit (unless he plans on playing until he's 40).

Marchand of all people said something smart in reference to the Bruins getting blown out the other night.

You play how you practice. I’ve heard that a lot over the years. Bruins practices had been sloppy and so was their game.

So what the hell is going on at Wings practices??
A sleepy practice is good for the road team.

Id bring Watson and Soderblom instead of Veleno and Kane. It's not like they will score goals, but bring some physicality. Unfortunately Mazur and Lombardi injured and who knows how long will be their recovery.

It's been like this for years playing in Philly. Better play for dignity against Toronto on Saturday. Another poor game there and it'll be the most likely time for Lalonde to get fired. Three days between that game and the next one.

Chiarot runs over Raymond and knocks him out of the lineup?
