I don’t know how Laviolette survives this. It’s not all his fault, but usually the coach is on the chopping block in situations like this.
i'm not sure he can be absolved completely... what has changed recently? we all know this team need to flush out players and be reformed with a new identity.

Laviolette is just minor upgrade from Galloon.. they're the same type of coaches... the team was spent after last season...

Maybe Drury sees things we don't see? He just might , right? He started the purge in the offseason and it spilled into this season.. we all know what has to happen.

these are the types of games that prove that hockey is not just about talent. talent with effort wins. effort without talent wins far less. talent without effort will never win a damn thing. anyone who's played sports knows how satisfying it is to roll an opponent that has given up, to just bully them and rub it in their f***ing face. this team has some talent and no effort.

They had more than 4 hits.

But also no need to throw hits when we cough up the puck to prevent being hit. Sometimes I'm not sure how they track hits. Sometimes they track only bigger hits, sometimes they track bumps, sometimes they track every little bump into the boards.

It's a team of read and react guys who need other people to do the digging and working and they all just stare at each other waiting for one another to go skate hard.

They all want to make a pass to the streaking guy, except none of them want to be the streaking guy, so they kinda do everything at 2/3 speed waiting for someone else to work hard.
It's burned into the way they play. Rely on improvisation. It's pond hockey. There's not much purpose.

It was pointless to sign Igor at this stage of the game. We are more than a goaltender away from being true contenders. They have so many holes to fill, and this move handcuffs them for years. They should have looked for a franchise center to pay instead of a goaltender.
Signing Igor was an emotional decision not a logical one. Drury thought signing him would calm down the noise around the team. It didnt.

Bringing up his contract on every goal against is already old and ink is barely dry.

In fairness to Igor, look at the lack of help he's getting in front of his net...nobody does anything to deter Foegle from picking up his own rebound and putting it in.he just skated by everyone, not 1 player attempted to stop him.

It’s just an absolutely atrocious effort. You got an AHL D try to spark the crowd and the team and you go out there and float around unable to really do anything. Outshot 17-8, can’t complete a pass, can’t skate, won’t skate, no forecheck, no intensity, no physicality, just absolutely nothing from these guys.

If this is a mutiny, at least they’re doing that well

Rolled out of bed at 12. I eat breakfast and enjoy watching some college basketball. Then remember the Rangers are playing and they're already losing 2-0. Disaster.

Drury was trying to sign him before the season for slightly less. He was being signed and it wasn't just an emotional decision to calm the noise down.

I'll say it's hard to watch fox right now and come away thinking he's mailing it in. He's basically the only player consistently making plays with purpose.

And don't forget the opposition seems to have free reign of the middle of the ice....how many times have we seen players skate down the slot untouched or without a Ranger player within 5 feet of them and get clear, dead on shots on goal.

The million-dollar question is, how many coaches will this awful core get until management sees this needs to be blown up?

I think he'd like to be already (even if just to keep his job safe), but it seems it is very hard to do in-season now. Nobody else seems to be looking for 'big' trades, just tinkering at the edges.
No but we should do what the Pens did in 2003 and ask Palffy to retire mid season
